$1.15/Litre yesterday, $1.20/L today in Toronto.
This equals ~$3.78 USD/USG.
I must say I am somewhat bemused by the indignation of some Americans - the concept that gasoline must be cheap, and that it is the government's duty and obligation to keep it that way... LoL
Welcome to the rest of the world!
Petrol costs an arm & a nut in U.K. and Europe, and society has adjusted/evolved to compensate.
You live close to where you work (no 1 hour drive there, and again to come home, every day)
No 7-litre V8 Ford Excursions (with 1 person in them :^)
Have you SEEN what a typical American family vehicle is?!
There is nothing like dragging 2500KG of glass & steel with you to go down to the corner for some bread & milk...
In America everyone expects to get a car when they turn 16 and get their license.
A family of husband, wife and 2 kids might have 4 cars in the driveway.
Did you not read dRD's comments NINVIN21?
In Finland the fuel price/litre is very high, and 80% of it is taxes.
The government has no obligation to keep gas affordable (sometimes it seems rather the opposite ;^)
People there get much more fresh air & exercise and are more physically fit.
Cities are created differently; there are no huge suburban sprawls where you must drive to get anywhere.
Shops & services are within walking distance, and there is public transportation (that people actually use).
Bicycle paths & facilities are everywhere!
My cousins were up to Toronto, from Atlanta GA, and they were amazed there are almost no parking lots for The SkyDome or CN Tower.
Both are connected directly to bus, electric streetcar, and subway systems, and there is a network of bicycle paths throughout the city, with dedicated places to park and secure your bike.
In light of the enormous American national debt, and the gigantic deficits the Iraq and Afghan and now hurricane situations are incresing the debt with, Mr. Bush might have to really tap-dance just to keep the nation running over the next few years...
I would not expect any fuel price relief from D.C. in the near future.
Best wishes to those poor bastages in New Orleans who have no food & drink for 3-4 days now. May help reach you quickly.

No going down in price here. Still hovering around $3.40 average. We actually had long lines waiting for gas.
