hi guys
i would really appreciate some help!
I have thoroughly searched the forum, including FAQs and what guides i can find, so please dont be angry at my questions which are VERY similar to typical questions that iv realised get asked a lot here.
1. Does anyone have a really really beginners guide to copying DVDs and games because maybe then i can ask u less questions
2. Whenever I try to burn stuff in Nero 6 it ONLY burns as an image, i cant even burn that image later because again it only lets me burn that as an image too. The recorder menu only has "image recorder" as an option
3. In what way would it be better to use blue/purple sided disks/ dvd-
4. I cant JUST use dvd decrptor to burn can i?
5. Can i delete nero and just use something else? pref something free
All the games i wanna backup are already on my PC
Thank you so much in advance
and im really sorry for my newbie slowness and FAQs, i honestly have been searching for a while tho (when unregistered)
thanks!
Newbie guides are pretty much just trial and error. Read experiences people have had on these forums, and if there's a particular game you're interested in, search it out and you'll see a topic on whether or not ppl have backed it up successfully.
I wouldn't delete Nero 6 because SOMETIMES it has it's uses, but I prefer not to use it at all. I "found" a registered copy of Alcohol 120% which is what I primarily use. If you download DVD Decrypter, that essentially IS all you need to burn the games. There may be other steps you need to take to get to burn, but for the most part, yeah, that's all you need.
blue vs. purple, I've found doesn't really matter for my PS2. Every PS2 is different. Just make sure you buy QUALITY DVD-R media. Look for Verbatims, Sony, Fujifilm and a couple others. I stick with Sony and Verbatim because that works for me.
If you do go for the demo version of Alcohol 120% you can always trick it into thinking it's registration hasn't run up yet. When you boot your machine, go to bios (sometimes F2, del, esc, depends on manufacturer) and change the system date to something outrageous like the year 2052. Boot up your machine and click the OK buttons of windows freaking out. Install the free version. Reboot your machine and go back into bios and return the clock back to today's date. Now, the countdown for the registration trial period wont start until the year 2052. This also works on most trial-ware PC software.
thank you so much dave, i REALLY appreciate that
Any chance you know why Nero 6 is only making things into image files?
ie i cant burn something onto dvd, only as image onto harddrive, even when i try to burn that image it only burns as an image to the harddrive again!
also, would Nero express 6 be any good at doing all this stuff
at the mo i cant even burn mp3s onto a dvd disk
im really really baffled
I dont really know much about Nero, but when I do use it, I merely go into Nero StartSmart and select Copy/Backup, there will be an option that says Burn Image to DVD. Aside from that, I dont really know as I really dont like Nero, so I dont use it often.
