So when I boot up, the screen flashes, fan starts and nothing else happens. Is this a problem with the video cable, or did I do something wrong with the installation?
I accidently burned some of the protecting plastic of the wires, but only into half melted/ black state.
might want to tape up those wires. install might not be correct as well. Check your solder points and make sure everything is taped off ( you don't want any wires making contact with the heatsink) and that you have no dry sockets or bridges (i'm not trying to offend you or your soldering i just don't know if this is your first time). also, disconnect the chip and see if your cube boots normally still. if the cube still boots normally then it is problem with the install. if you end up wanting to send it out to get it reinstalled let me know, i install mods. also feel free to pm me if you need more help. good luck.
I had this problem earlier. Putting a piece of tape over the solder joints under the heatsink fixed the problem, but then I ran into another problem: the power joint came off without me noticing. Check for the green LED on the qoob chip when you turn the Gamecube on. If it's on and there's still a problem, something probably came in contact with the heatsink. If it's off, something's up with the red wire.
Managed to get the joints covered, but the red wire came off. Also before starting when I tried to boot my GC, I noticed that the disk wasn't spinning. Any idea what's causing that?
