I've successfully made 2 full home DVDs so far using Ulead DVD workshop 2 followed by DVD shrink. Granted, the encoding with Ulead took overnight... but the point is, successfully made 2 DVDs with motion buttons, music, menus, a slide show etc etc.

Point is, I'm confident in creating basic DVDs.

Now, I've got 2 new projects to work on that I might need some help with.

The first is a 'Favourite scenes' DVD, of all my favourite movie scenes. After a fair bit of research around these forums, a few programs and some playing around, I think I've decided that the quickest and easiest way to do this is to use DVD shrink to trim and rip my scenes, and then use DVD lab to use the straight VOB files. That way, they are already encoded, and compressed thanks to DVD shrink, and ready to go, and are also viewable and editable in DVD lab. Does that make sense? Is that a good idea? Will that work fine?

The second project is a music video DVD, which is pretty much self explanitory: Favourite music clips.

Now, my biggest question is: Is there a way to do random play? I have a music DVD, with about 40 music videos on it (A retail one, not home made). It has a random play button which plays all the clips in random and loops. It also has a Jukebox button, which lets you program about 5 clips, and when you play it plays them in the order you chose.

How do I get these features? Does DVD lab or Ulead DVD workshop have these functions? I'm not so fussed about the Jukebox feature, but pretty badly want the random play.

So to condense the post:

* DVD shrink to rip VOBs, use DVD lab, good idea?
* Any way to get 'random play' in DVD lab or ulead DVD workshop?

Thanks for any help guys.

(Edit: Forgot to mention - The console in the shops will be $240. If getting a switch and magic swap disc is $160(AU) or more, it's pointless as the pre-chipped PS2 is only $399)

1st scenario you seem to have a good handle on. 2nd scenario, you're going to loose the random capability using Shrink unless you use full back up. I assume you want to make a backup copy of this disc to retain the original. If it's copy protected, dnld DVD Decrypter (free) and there's a guide on how to use. Compress with DVD Shrink since the files are probably huge then burn with your burning prog. Hope that helps.
