Ok, with the amount of postings we've been having on here lately asking the same questions, I thought a few facts might come in handy. if you have anything CONSTRUCTIVE to add please feel free to do so.

1) You cannot play ANY backup / copied discs without some sort of modification to your PS2....These are modchip or fliptop + swap magic or slidecard + swap magic for the PS2 (chunky) v4-v10(SCPH30001 - SCPH50004)
and modchip or aftermarket fliptop + swapmagic or ghost switches + swapmagic for the PSTWO (slimline) v12+ (SCPH 70000 + )

---- the models listed are for PAL ps2, if someone can put in NTSC , JAP ,that would be great---------------------------------------------

2) Do a search on the forum to see if there are already answers to your question(s)

3)If you can't find the answer in a search. When you do post a question, please include as much info as you can when posting about a problem you have with dvd backups... it will waste your time and ours when we have to keep asking for more info, and in some cases you will not get an answer at all.

eg.
I have a problem with making a backup of Fantastic four, I am using Ritek g05 discs and burning the iso with nero at 4x on my nec nd3520a burner. I am using swap magic 3.6 on my v7 ps2.

Sometimes it helps if you have a signature which lists your processor type etc and ps2 type etc... this could save you writing it out all the time too. see below.

If anybody's got anything else to add to this that you think might help newbies, feel free to add, thanks.

Its a sisyphean effort. You're asking newbies to read the FAQ threads before posting by posting a FAQ thread... its kind of... self-defeating?

well, i was hoping a moderator might keep it posted at the top of the forum...so then we wouldn't get inundated by useless posts all the time asking the same questions that have been asked a hundred times or more before.

well this is a nice thought indeed, but there is already
plenty of FAQ's at the top of the posts that would
answers their questions, people are generaly lazy
and refuse to look for answers on their own.
And i really agree with the more info part, i have to ask
soooooo many people for more info to help them.
"my game won't work" is just not good enough.

No, I'm trying to save the amount of time it takes to wade through so many posts on here.

Looks like people are taking this thread the wrong way if you think I'm grandstanding or something. I would just like to come onto the forum and not see so many posts about the same things over and over again. Maybe a moderator or a senior member with a bit more experience could write something similar and include all the stuff that the newbies ask over and over again. I know that a lot of it is down to laziness on their part by not doing a search... but anything's got to be better than having all these posts on here.

nephilim - please do something... and can you remove this thread too? I am bored of it now after the unconstructive posts on here. thanks.

not being unconstructive, just realistic
like i said, there are already stickies at the top
that would solve most of these questions, yet
they still get asked every day.

I like your idea, and you are 100% right
but people are just too lazy to search for themselves
and find answers.

I think in my opinion people post without searching b/c it gives a sense of getting THEIR question answered and not someone elses, regardless of whether the answer has already been posted, and some are just too lazy, hell I've done it..

The simple fact of the matter is that the world is full of lazy people. It would probably help if the FAQs were stickied at the top of all the related forums, not just general. Possibly also bolded and in red. Answering the same old questions every day is pretty counterproductive and annoying.

I think the 'search' function can answer probably 90%+ of peoples' problems/questions. Wish that more people would use it more often and not add new posts just because they can't be bothered doing a search. I wonder how some people get through life being so impatient - especially the people that double post!
