For my money, it's a basically a toss up. I've gone back and forth between the two w/ excellent results from both--100 TY's and only 1 bad disc. About 125 Verbatims and only 1 bad disc. As far as shelf life, they should be about the same since they both use AZO dye. Just my 2 cents.

 ... It's a win-win situation if you're choosing between the two ...

.. However, through the 20th you can get a 100 pack of the Verbatim discs at Office Depot for $37.99 ... no waiting for shipping ...

From what i have read in the aD forums on this topic Taiyo Yuden is good for single layer burning 4.7gigs and Verbatim is good for dual layer burning DL...

But also both are great media...

check my sig...i have used many of BOTH the Taiyo Yudens as well as the Verbatims...both are GREAT choices for media...it really comes down to PERSONAL PREFERENCE in this dilemna as you are choosing between red and green apples, both equally as sweet and juicy, but depends how you like the "outside" :)

both TY and Verbatim use the AZO dye, so, i figure, at least from MY OWN experience, they will continue to last for many years to come...i haven't had either degrade as of yet for over 3 years. shelf-life is not really a concern you need to worry about if you are using either of these GREAT medias :)

Recommended Media:
