QEW/427, but they should all have the same stock throughout the city. Go to the one closest to you, and have a look. Even if they don't have any on display, I'm sure one of the guys who works there will be more than willing to ckeck the stock in the back to make a sale:)

I have not bought any MIT packs, but from what I read they are not TY disks.

:) someone mention Taiyo Yuden up in this crap Memorex thread? hehe j/k...anyways, at least here in the U.S., which i'm pretty sure is the same in canada; the MIT (made in taiwan) 8x DVD-R are DEFINITELY NOT Taiyo Yuden made...you will most likely get the ProdiscF01 coding, prodisc being the manufacturer and NOT NEARLY as high in quality as TY.

the MIJ (made in Japan) 8x Fuji DVD-R ARE genuine Taiyo Yudens thus far since the beginning of this year when i personally picked up a few spindles...they are the TYG02 coding, which are genuine TYs :) also, when looking for the inner hub reading for authentication purposes...look for the GG000xxx (xxx being the batch number) coding on those particular discs. yes, it's different from 4x rated to 8x rated and they are different from DVD-R to DVD+R format too, meaning:
4x DVD-R are TYG01, 8x DVD-R are TYG02, 8x DVD+R are YUDEN000T02 coding~ and on the inner hub it can vary from GD000xxx/GG000xxx/TG000xxx etc.etc...

docTY out for tonight, i hope that has cleared up some of your concerns regarding Taiyo Yuden media for my friends up north~ :) im in California by the way and have a cousin that lives in Vancouver, i send him my Taiyo Yudens from here, he's very lucky to have a nice cousin like me... good luck to you guys in Canada~ :)

(sigh, not Memorex again, this thread will no doubt entice some Memorex-obsessive to join and start arguing with the rest of us!)

(Creaky leans over side of boat and dunks his head into the river due to not having the power to sue Memorex for giving me RSI from typing about Memorex media so often!)

I would still give TDK media a try if I were you. You won't be disapointed and if you buy it in spindles of 50 you can get a good price.

Some of its media is still made in Tawain but thats because thats were one of the major factories is. (Not Fakes) But most of its media is now coming from TDK factories in New York.

I use TDK-R 8x, and haven't created one coaster in the whole year I have been using them !

I like the full hub printables by verbatim data life plus +8x with MID code of MCC-003. Excellent media in both printable and non printable.

Maxell +8x full hub printables are also working great.I can easily get them from wal-mart if I am in a pinch. These are Hitachi made discs coded as Maxell-002-00.Performing as great as my verbs.

I have ordered from supermediastore several times and have always gotten genuine TY's, supermediastore is very reputable. I just bought the colored Fuji's, both -/+R from Staples, and they are IDing as TY's. Look for the ones MIJ.

It seems that Memorex is a terrible brand for DVD media. Any ideas about its CD-R product? I have just bought a spindle of 50-pack Memorex CD-R. I am wondering do I have to throw them away and buy another brand. Here are some info about the Memorex CD-R extracted from Nero CD Speed program. I am quite surprised that it is made by Prodisc:

Manufacturer : Prodisc
Code : 97m32s19f
Disc Type : CD-R
Usage : General
Recording Layer : Dye Type 9: Short Strategy (Phthalocyanine)
Recording Speed : n/a
Capacity : 79:59.72
703 MB
Additional Capacity : n/a
Overburn Capacity : not tested

CD's have been around a lot longer, there's still some crap out there, but these days you can almost use any old rubbish CD's (still don't recommend it) and get good results - as opposed to DVD's anyway

you should be ok with those...i have some of the cheapest cd-r that still work great here at my house..LOL, they are imation and they work great~ HAHAHA...who would have thought?

but, anyways, i have maxell and sony cd-rs too, but, i don't honestly see/hear a noticeable difference as i only store data and mp3s on my cd-rs. :) im not all that experienced in cd-r burning, i know a bit more when it comes to dvds :) good day to you

Hey canadian2,
Have you been able to find any Fuji Film media that are in grey cases at Best Buy? I dont think Best Buy in Canada carries these type of media.

I was there on the weekend, and all I found was 2-25packs with the grey cases. Needless to say I bought them both:) FutureShop has the 25 packs on sale for $9.99 this week bud. I was in there yesturday (Weston/401), and they had about half a dozen left with the grey case. I didn't grab any as I'm well stocked with dvd's to last me a while. Try a FutureShop near you, and go through them. Chances are they will still have a few there.

I've had bad luck finding those grey case ones in the missisauga/brampton area but like youve said there are still some up there in that area. I'm not to sure what other places I can try and I am also hesitant about ordering online because I have no idea which ones there gonna send.

Thanks creaky and kivory666 for the comments. I will keep those Memorex CD-R's, and hope that they will work fine.

@kivory666, just wondering when (in which year) did you burn your oldest Imation CD-R? Have you ever have a chance to see your data or mp3 files are still there? I am asking because from other threads in AD, many people are complaining about Memorex CD-R dying on them in just 3 months. They said it is okay during the burning process, but Memorex CD-R just cannot keep the data long enough. Do you have the same problem? Do you have to backup your data and mp3 files every 3 months or every year when you use Imation CD-R?

@arznable

well, i can safely say my Imation cd-rs are from approx. 1998-1999 :) yes, i actually checked shortly after i posted this response to you to make sure, i can still extract/read/open ALL the data and mp3s i stored on them from what, like 6 years ago~ :) amazing isn't it? like i said earlier, i am NO EXPERT in the cd-r media forum; you MOST LIKELY read about the Memorex DVDs going bad in 3 months, cuz that is what I posted myself~ :) i got some CMC MAG crap, memorex branded, that didn't work after 3 months after i burned them...i have thousands of burns under my belt in the dvd-media arena, so, NO, it was not "user error" :) it was simply CRAP media~ :)

hope that clarifies a bit...good luck w/ your cds, i can't really give you a definitive answer regarding the longevity of them as i only have a few cdrs burned, but they still playback FINE to this day. happy burning...if you DO choose to start burning onto Dvd-media, STAY AWAY FROM MEMOREX, that i know for certain, 100% :)

Thanks kivory666, I may have mixed up with the Memorex DVDs info that you posted since I have read hundreds of postings from many different threads in this site recently. Thanks for your advice on Memorex DVDs. It is useful since I think I will jump onto the DVD platform soon.
