Ok so i got my Swap Magic Card and disks in the mail today and i have tried repeatedly to successfully burn a back up i think i have ruined 7 DVDs by now lol in n e case here is my situation i have Final Fantasy 10 and Burnout 3 i need backed up i use this tutorial to the letter http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515 and still i have no success... please help! alls i get when i load the swap magic discs is a thing that says invalid PS2 disc (i can load swap magic yes just worded poorly) do i need a solderless mod chip as well i think i heard that somewhere please please please help me! i have used DVD decrypter and Alcohol 120% as well to try and make back ups and nothin has worked for me so i really need help!

I know you said you have swapmagic discs, but what mod are you using? have you got a fliptop lid or slidecard for a chunky ps2 to go with the sm discs or is yours a slimline ps2 and you have ghost switches or an aftermarket fliptop for it?

O, are you sure you're using the slidecard correctly? do you have any other backups that you can use to confirm you're doing the swap method correctly? Also what media are you using to make the backups? and what version is your ps2?
I want to try and help you, but need more info on what you use etc as it could be many different things stopping your backup from working properly. Hopefully, we should be able to get you running smoothly and have your backups working soon.

Also, just read the url to the thread you've been using to make your backups. With ff 10 you do not need to rebuild or patch (unless you have an old version of swapmagic, which I very much doubt as you said you got them recently)
Just try the sumple method:-

1) Use DVD Decrypter in iso read mode to put the iso onto your hard drive.

2) Use DVD Decrypter in iso write mode to burn the image onto a disc (you need to use the mds file for this) or you can use a different burning program such as Nero ... try with 4x write speed.

I dont have n e working backups to confirm i was using DVD+R but then read that DVD-R discs work better ? so i am using Verbatim DVD-Rs and my PS2 is a Version 7, also i am pretty sure i am useing the cards correctly but not 100% sure? :S n e more help would be really really great!

Yep I don't think +r's work to great on v7 ps2's, I have a v7 too... if you follow what I said above to copy most games you should be fine with -r discs and burn at 4 speed.
When burning make sure that you have your internet connection turned off and virus scanner etc... it could interfere with the burn process.

good luck with backing up your discs.

p.s - I noticed that you posted another thread for the same problem, not a good idea as it can get you banned by the moderator for double posting, in future just be patient and someone will hopefully answer your questions for you.

ok guys well u were alot of help and i learned alot but i found out my problem .... i wasn't locking the cd tray when reinserting a game disc... atleast i know my problem now as noobish as it was thanks again u've all been great!
