I just started getting a hang of backing up my DVDs but I started having problems. The movie that I burned runs smoothly for a while then it either frezed or skips. Is it because I reauthored it? I only made it so that I would burn the movie w/o the extras/menus. I tried even using DVD Decrypter first then writing it with Shrink because doing it with Shrink alone wasn't working out.

Need help. Thanks

edit: Just in case if it helps I burned it with the Sony VAIO FS640w and the disk I used was from Imation.

Welcome to the forum. The problem you described is due to inferior quality blank DVD. Try Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden. Your procedure to burn is correct when you do movie only. Just change brands of blanks and you should be fine

Also be aware that the use of paper labels on burnt DVD's can cause freezing and skipping problems.

paper labels as in DVD homemade covers?

also to help avoid these freezes would it be better to decrypt it first then reauthoring w/ Shrink or just using Shrink.

Any other software you guys can recommended either commercial or free?

BUT burn speed will ,try burning at 4X max with good media as posted above Taiyo Yuden or Verbatium.

other great programs that are really easy to use also is CloneDVD2 with anydvd and the quality is MUCH better than dvd shrink you can try both as a free trial for 21 days before you buy heres the link and a guide
