NO ROUTER - NO WORK

i know how to get and load isos using Phoenix 2.5b, and i know all the correct set-up stuff. But the thing is, i did this through a router and hub etc.

Now i tried going direct from computer to gamecube using crossover cable.

(Computer <=> GameCube)

THE COMPUTER FINDS THE SIGNAL WHEN THE GAMECUBE IS ON, AND THE CONNECTION IS ON WHILE INTERACTING WITH PSO. BUT WHEN IT IS TIME TO UPLOAD A GAME, THE COMMECTION DISCONNECTS AND THE LOADING STOPS. IS THERE A WAY TO FIX THIS?
