Hey. I just got swap magic 3.6 and tried playing a game burned on a dvd+r and it says "not a valid ps2 disc". Im pretty sure my ps2 is a V4, because it has 8 screws on the bottom and it's serial number begins with U3. Is it compatible with dvd+r, or what else could be the problem? Thanks

what are you talking about?

swap magic(all versions)can play DVD+R just fine.when you get a not valid ps2 disc message in the swap magic menu it usually means you used the slide card or fliptop wrong.it can also mean you totally copied the game wrong but first make sure you used swap magic right before you move on to other possible problems.

how did you use swap magic?

and how did you copy the game?

I know I was using the slide card right, so I tried burning the game again with DVD Decryptor. For some reason, it didn't burn right the first time with Alchohol 120%. The game plays perfectly now and I got a new coaster on the side, too. Thanks a lot sui-cyco and Yurihyuga.

I have a V4 ps2 with a Matrix Infinity chip and it wont play DVD-R. I'm pretty sure that I burnt the game right ( I used Decrypter MODE>ISO>WRITE) on a TDK DVD-R disc. Should i even bother trying DVD+R or DVD-+RW? BTW, me and friend patched the .iso file twice, could this be the problem?

What game is it? Shouldn't have a problem with a DVD-R and since you're using a chip it may not have needed to be patched...

The game is Winning Eleven 9. It's in Japanese therefore I put an English text patch on it using ppf-o-matic.

This is the first time I've ever burnt a ps2 game, since I just got my ps2 back from the chip installer. He had tested it with a DVD-R and a CD-R and said they worked just fine.

But when I try to play this game my ps2 screen is black for about 20-30 seconds then a 'Unable to read the disc' text appears.

I'm thinking that there's something wrong with the .iso file or with my ps2.

Are you using DVD Decrypter to create the iso? and what Burn speed?

could just be a hard game to backup may need to be rebuilt or something even though you're using a chip....

I would try backing up one of your regular PS2 games and see what happens....

That way you'll know if it's the chip or the game...

I use Swapmagic so maybe someone with a chip can help you better...

Yes, I am using DVD Decrypter to create the .iso. I did this put my ps2 game inside the drive, and chose MODE>ISO>READ. and then let it make an .iso out of it. I put the patch on the game, burnt the .iso at 2x speed. Didn't work. Some people have told me to try burning it on 4x speed. I don't see how this could/would make any difference. What do you think?

you said the game is jap?so if you put an english language patch on it does that mean it also converted the game to PAL or NTSC.i dont know which jap games fall under or what type is your ps2.anyway what im getting at is if the game is essentially an import to your ps2 dont modchips boot imports by selecting some kind of import option or is it automatic?there may be an import option you have to select to boot the backup.

then again if you patched the same iso twice you may have messed it up.do another iso and patch it once then burn it to dvdr.

I don't think it converts it into PAL just because of the language patch. But then again I dont know P.Diddly about this stuff.

Whatever, I'll just make a new ISO and make sure I only patch it once.
BTW are sony DVD+RW's any good? I've got a few of those, i mean do they have a better chance of working then TDK DVD-R's?

Would be better for me to burn at 4x speed or 1x speed? I've already burnt a game on 2x and it didn't work, before I start burning again i'd like to know which has a better chance of working 1x or 4x speed? I don't wanna waste anymore DVD's

2x or 4x would be fine and depending on the Code of TDK Media depends on if it's considered good media for a ps2 or not.... I'm not sure if a DVD-RW would even work in a ps2 suppose since it's rewriteable you could try it...

try burning it without the patch 1st to a DVD-RW and see what happens...

Have you tried burning any other games? do they play and are your originals still playing now that it has been moded?

originals still play fine....No I still havn't tried this with any other games.

I've read in a lot of places that with the matrix infinity mod chip your ps2 should play DVD-RW...but i'll try...

thanks for the help
