Not very computer literate so please bear with me. until quite recently I have have no complications whatsoever with making my backups. Lately, with in a week, I have been unable to back up my dvd using the method that I have been using since I started backing up my dvds. That included using DVD-Cloner version 2.4. About a month ago I bought AnyDvd and it was working flawlessly. Now when I try using my same old method, Dvd-cloner, along with AnyDvd with decrypt and when I go to burn it takes forever, on all occasions I stop the process. On average it has been 12% at 10+ hours. I tried using DVD decrypter and copying to my hard drive but that only copies the video. When i look in the folders there are no audio files. I deleted all my programs and then reinstalled, that did not work . . . I am at my wits end. . . I have more than enough memory, is this happening to anyone else? Can anyone help me. I have a HP dvd300. Using Sony, Fuji, and Verbatim media. If there is anything else needed please ask. Also I deleted and reinstalled my driver, there are no updated firmware from HP.
"Follow These Steps in WindowsXP
1) Right click the My Computer icon on the desktop and click Properties.
2) Select the Hardware page and click the Device Manager button.
3) Locate the Primary and Secondary IDE Channels, and double click on the one your hard-drive is connected to (usually the Primary IDE Channel).
4) Open the Advanced Settings page on the IDE Channel Properties window that appears.
5) Click the Transfer Mode dropdown box and select "DMA if available".
6) Click on the OK button to confirm the changes.
7) That's it, you've just enabled DMA. Depending on the number of devices you have on your system, it could be useful to do this on the Secondary IDE Controller as well, and to both devices on each of them.
Alternatively, if you find your drive is locked in PIO mode it is simply a matter of uninstalling the appropriate controller in Device Manger by right clicking on it and selecting uninstall and then rebooting a couple of times and it will then have been reset to DMA mode. Most DVD drives are UDMA2 or similar"
Go to Device Manager, select IDE ATA/ATAPI, then select Secondary IDE channel (hopefully your DVD is on this channel, it should be), and double click, then select Advanced Setting, and it should indicate whether or not DMA is selected. Keep in mind the above process is from a Win2k Pro system, and I did not see if you mentioned your system OS?
I am using Windows XP. And my DMA was turned on. Even when I go to look at the contents of the dvd, if there are no files listed under the audio folder is there is one. But there are .VOB files. I've exhasted my resources and turn to you guys for help.
Burning dvd to dvd does not work either. It will read the original dvd but not write it on a new dvd.
