I think I did everything correctly, I ripped using DVD decrypt, saved the files to my hard drive using isobuster, changed the dummy file to one byte, rebuilt using cd/dvd gen, concatenated the files using copy/b sonic.000 + sonic.001 sonic.iso and then burned sonic.iso to DVD using Nero.
It works, however I'm concerned because when I ripped with DVD decrypt, there were two files, not one (sonic.i00 and sonic.i01) but I only used isobuster on sonic.i00 (the other file didn't have anything in it, my guess is it was something from the second layer of the DVD?) I've been reading around but haven't seen anyone mention this scenario. The game works, so am I in the clear? Or is there something missing in the game that I just haven't discovered?
dummy files are NOT there to make it difficult for swapmagic users,
they are there to fill the disk so the game runs smoother
dont forget they are made for booting on a original, not a copy
the only time when you should rebuild,is when the TOC is too high for swapmagic to boot it
So after the rip I should just have burned either the first file (sonic.i00) or both? When I burn with Nero express it only lets me select one file to burn, is it smart enough to burn both? By the way, the file sizes are 4,194,302K for sonic.i00 and 394,338K for sonic.i01.
Thanks.
p.s. Thanks also to Hursty for posting the how-to guide, it helps a lot!
you have lost me now
what have you done?
rebuilt it?,if so,it dont sound right, you need to make an iso out of the 001 files you have using iml2iso
you dont use Nero vision express for starters,
if you havent rebuilt it,i am not sure what you have done
you should start over
or explain what you have done,i am a bit lost
When I first ripped, that's when I got the files sonic.i00 and sonic.i01, I'm wondering if those are the files I should have burnt to the DVD?
These are not the rebuilt files. The rebuilt files were sonic.000 and sonic.001. I think maybe I made this out to be more of a problem than it really is, I didn't realise people were rebuilding because of a TOC issue with swapmagic.
