I'm a little confused on dvd discs. First, what is the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r. Second, is the minimum writable speed determined by the media, or the burner. If I want to burn at 1x, do I need to buy 1x media? And lastly, Is the quality of the disc the write speed? I mean is a 1x dvd harder on a ps2 than a 8x. Thank you for your time.

The difference between DVD-R and DVD+R is that some burners can only burn one of the two medias. The mimumum write speed depends on both. The newer DVDr's are capatablw w/ write speeds 1x-16x. Now ur burner may only be able to burn speeds up to 4x thats fine, itll get the job done. Now remeber to buy good quality media, TDK, SONY, RITEK, VERBATIM, TAIYO YUDEN, ect. Cheapy media is bad and results in coasters.

Rememmber to burn at the slowest speed possible.

what ismith said. but the higher the speed in which you write, i.e. 16x the harder it is on the ps2. that is why you burn at 1x, 2x or slowest possible.

plus, i assume that you have swap magic and/or a modchip to boot backup copies. or else you can't play backups
