Hello, I just purchased and installed a flip top w/ swap magic 3.6 for my v7 PS2. I've tried several DVD backups (burnt at 2.4X on Sony-R media with DVD Decrypter from an iso file) but the load screen says please insert a valid PS2 disc. So I tried my lone CD backup and it worked fine, telling me that my installation and swapping technique was correct at least. I have read in the forum that using Nero would work but it should be burnt as a DVD udf/iso. I looked into this, but it says my games are too big, so should i try Nero as a udf?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, it's hard to tell what's going wrong. The media you are using is o.k. and you're burning at the right speed. I think that Nero doesn't like it if a particular file is over 2gb, so personally I would stick with DVD Decrypter. Hope someone else can help you out.

Which games were they that you tried to backup?

ok, well I knwo that chaos theory and MOH Euro work ok...
so a few things to try are:-

1) check that you're using the dvd version of swapmagic (you'd be suprised how many people use the cd by mistake)

2) Just use DVD Decrypter to read the iso to the hard drive and then use Nero to burn the image file.. usually has a burn image option in Nero.
remember to turn off all non-essential programs when burning as this can cause disruption to the burning process.

3) If it's still not working then I would suggest buying some different media and try again... try verbatims, ritek g04 or g05 or taiyo yuden discs in -r format.

hope you get it working, good luck

Thanks for the ideas, I will try closing the noon-essential programs, and if that doesn't work I will try some new media (I am using the SM DVD, so unfortunately that's not the problem). I just hope the SM DVD isn't faulty somehow?

One other question, are there any settings I have to change when burning a DVD depending on whether the game is PAL or NTSC?

well it seems like u are usind the CD swap magic instead of the DVD Disc. That should explain why the cd games work and the dvd games doesn't. Check and make sure that ur swap magic 3.6 came with 2 discs. one that says dvd nad the other CD.

no, they burn the same way.
But i would try to stick with games from your region.
Although Swap Magic will allow you to play both
the difference in screen rates will cause a small
portion of the screen to be cut off, usually at the bottom.
If there is any crucial information there, like health
or ammo or such then you will just not be able to see it.
