I replaced the power supply because this seems to be the most common problem, but i have had no luck with this. Still won;t power up. I tried the same power supply on a different xbox and it worked fine. I don;t think the power supply is the problem. I've tried looking on line for possibbly other problems but i haven't found anything. If anybody can let me know if they have any other ideas on what the problem may be i will appreciate it. It wasn;t hit by electricity and nothins seems burned on the motherboard. Is there a way to check to see if the mother board is working or if the hdd is working? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The power supply i bought was a universal one that works through the 1.5versions of the xbox. Cant remember which version this one is but it isn;t 6.0.Thanks in advance.

I changed the whole psu with a new one. Do you mean the fuse on the PSU? or is there another fuse i haven't read about?

I know it's been a few days but I didn't forget about you. If you've swapped out your power supply for a new one then.

Are you 100% sure it's not a v1.6 because if you have a new PSU, your problem sounds like a fried transistor on the motherboard. You can probably get a replacement for about a buck online.

Thanks for answering. I really appreciate it. The dvd drive is a samsung. I've also checked with the serial number so i doubt it is a 1.6. It's years old. BUt anyway. Do you know where that transistor on the motherboard is? I can post a picture of my motherboard if that will help. I'm sure it will. THe xbox is not a 1.0. It is either a 1.1 or 1.2. Thank is advance. I'll look for that transistor on line.

I'll have to do some research, I haven't looked inside of an old version xbox in a long time, I'm sorry. I don't know. I will scour the internet for you though...you do the same and we'll compare notes in a day or so. Cool??

Take a look at this link: http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/ComaConsole.htm

If your xbox is not modded, I have a trick that might work too?

My console is not modded so i am willing to try any ideas you may have. The article on llamma was referring to a coma console where the screen is black but the xbox is turning on. Mine doesn't have the frag lights or show any signs of it being on at all. Should i still try to do what it says??

Well, there is a fuse on the motherboard that could have gone out on you, which would prevent your Xbox from turning on. If I remembered where the link was, I could show you a pic of where the fuse is on the board.

Let's see, I'll try to find that link, but I would almost just think about getting a new MoBo and HD combo on ebay or llamma.com

Or you could get a new mobo and a modchip instead...

Thanks pimpdawg. I thought about that idea as well. It's not my xbox i told the person who gave it to me so i can fix that he would be better off buying a new xbox. The motherboard and hdd combo replacements are enough to just buy a new one. I just thought i would give it a try and see if i can fix it for less than 100 dollars.

Well, for some reason I can't find the link w/ a pic at where the resister/and or fuse is on your MoBo! I'll keep looking...

I found this on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Xbox-1-2-1-5-Motherboard-hard-Drive-Combo_W0Q...

It is a HD + MOBO comobo for a v1.2-1.5 for only $79 (U.S.)

They have other HD + MOBO combo's on there for different versions as well, cause I'm not sure which one you have.

You know, one thing you could try before spending a lot of money on this is swap the power/eject board w/ a different one, and see if it works then. Also, if you had another mobo you could throw in that guys Xbox to test and see if it is indeed the mobo, that would be a good idea to do before buying the HD + MOBO combo.

Anyways, just keep swappin parts until you figure out what the problem is...

Let me know how it turns out!
