nothing really illegal about the flip top, its what u use it for. and buying and charging for it, you might need a permit to buy and install then sell items.

So you are saying that it is illegal to buy the flip top lid 'as stock' and charging a higher price along with installation? For example, if I purchased the package (flip top + Swap Magic discs) for £25, it would be illegal to sell it at £45 with installation? Any help is appreciated as I was thinking of doing this with people I know, mates etc to earn a bit of pocket money. Is it wise to advertise ps2 modding (swap magic)? Thanks.

Sly, that wasn't the question. I know people that will pay for it so that isn't a problem. It's whether it is allowed.

Hi, if Swap Magic and flip tops were illegal, why is the Swap Magic site still running and this site still running then? I think it is illegal for what you use it for etc. More replys appreciated. Thanks.

First off, sorry for posting the wrong link, i forgot that the article itself isn't included in the forum with the comments. Here's the proper link : http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/6596.cfm

Like i said, modding is illegal in the UK, so sites like AD and Swap Magic can keep on going since they aren't based in the UK.
