I purchased (or tried to) a pre-mod from www.themodchip.com and it never arrived. The service number was disconnected. No reply to repeated emails. No communication and no PS2. After 2 months I gave up and reported the credit card charge as fraudulent.
I got my money back but nobody should have to go through such a hassle.
I found another place to order from and they sent me a half broken Slimline Premod with a HD Connect. The HD Connect is completely defective and the PS2 only plays about 50% of my backups.
I will reply or add on to this thread once I find out if the store will make good on their warranty and replace the console.
I'll let you know the URL and the name of the store if they don't.

No, I have never heard of modchipstore.com. IT was themodchip.com that ripped me off completely and gamedevilonline.com that sold me a half broken console. Gamedevilonline.com has made several promises to replace the console but has never delivered. The console is a V12 Slimline with a DMS4 and HD Connect. I've tried three different hard drives and none of them were detected. The console is now running about 70% of my backups from DVD/CD and it runs the original games fine but I paid $336.80 for this piece of junk and I expected to get what I paid for. Apparently gamedevilonline has robbed a lot of people. I've seen complaints on many forums.
Here are some links to report fraud:
The last one on the list is for complaints in Maine only. The others are for anywhere in the USA.

http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
http://complaint.bbb.org/
http://www.maine.gov/ag/faq.php?pods=160
You will need the name & address of the store that robbed you to file complaints with these agencies. If you need the contact info for gamedevilonline, ask me and I will send it to you.

gamedevilonline? thats not a real cool name to buy stuff from.
sorry about the hassle and trouble, s**t like that happens. I have a home in asia, and there ps2 are only sold modded unless u buy from sony. i've had a modded ps1 for years, no problem until a year or so due to wear i think. i have 500+ games i think for ps 1, and it plays most of the now. the problem is only some won't play, otherwise its aaight
sorry, back to point, i got a ps2 slimline modded with no problems on play. if you are planning a trip to asia i can reccomend you where to get it, no problems with the machine.

Yeah, I know the name sucks. It kind of scared me at first, like maybe the name was some sort of warning but they had the cheapest price next to themodchip.com and they robbed me too. It's a good thing for Mastercard's fraud protection or I would have been totally out of luck.
But anyway, I should be getting my money back from gamedevilonline also. My bank said it would take up to 90 days.
