I have heard that the Verbation DVD+R DL are suppose to be vary good.I saw that someone said that they saw a 10pack of the DVD+R DL for $10 at Walmart. I thought I read that there are different versions of Verbatim DVD+R media out there, so I just wnat to make sure that this is not also true for the DL media?

Verbatim +r dl are very good.
10 packs of dl at wal-mart for $10.00!
They usually only carry the 3 packs of verbatim +r DL for a hair under $20.00. They may have been looking at the price that was actually for the verbatim lightscribe media. My local super wal-mart only carries Digital movie quality/Dual layer 3 packs/and lightscribe.
I have bought the verbatim dual layers at office depot for $3.50 apiece on sale. $2.50 to $3 apiece is about as cheap as they come if you order them on the web.
Different versions of verbatim media:
Digital movie quality
Media life
Data life
Data life plus
Dual layer
Light scribe
Full hub printable
That's a whole lot of verbatim +r's.
I love the data life plus +8x.It also has the same Mcc-003 MID code for their full hub printables.

So are all of those good media, or should I just stick to the top 4? Also, do these discs actually say "Digital movie quality" on them?

I'd say for my benq 1620s and cyberhome tv recorder, The verbatim data life plus +8x is the best. Very good media with the MID code of MCC-003. These are also on the +8x full hub printables.
The +4x digital movie quality is also very good. MID code of Mcc-002. I believe bestbuy may have these on sale this week.My benqs definitely don't like these in the dash 4x.My only burn coaster this year out of 2 I tried, UGHH! These discs have a cool picture of a film reel on them, with the words: Digital Movie Quality.I can't complain about them out of the 120+ that I have burned.
Their dual layer +2.4x seems to be pretty good, from the limited dl media that I have burned.
Their data life and media life have a lot of ricohjpn-01 MID codes which are pretty good, but cmags have been posted.I'm not sure of which ones of those. That is why I avoid them.
Lightscribe: I haven't tried. I've got the hp lightscribe burner, but she didn't perform to my compatability standards so I swapped it for my old benq 1620.

You will not find a 10 pack of Verbatim Dual Layer at WalMart, they only have 3 pack for 20.00. The lightscribe disks are 10 for 10.00. The Verbatim Digital Movie disks with the movie reels on them are one of my favorites, they burn smoothly and not one coaster ever.

arniebear I've seen those Verbatim around but couldn't figure out what was special about them. Also what do you pay for them? I only see them in 3 packs.

@Ppower
The Verbatim disks with the movie reels on them, ID as MCC and are 4x, which I like cause then my Plextor does not get out of hand with the programs that have no burn control, like Intervideo. The Plexie will burn at 16x if you do not contol it. They are on sale at BB for 10.00 for 25 and they just look a little jazzier than the plain silver. I like to use them for old movies, they look kind of classic.

I can see how the 4x would be handy. I'd try them but they are $2 a disc where I live. BTW I'm glad your son and his family are ok. It's pretty scary stuff.

I went into best buy today and took a look at teh Verbatim DL media. I did not see anywhere on there where it says which version it was. So besides the Digital Movie, which I geuss has a movie real on it, how can I determine which version thye are?

Verbatim dual layer is just that dual layer in + format, the -R format is not available yet. The Digital Movie Verbatim. with the cover movie reel on it, is a single layer disk not dual layer.

So then, there is only 1 type of dual layer media that verbatim makes?

Right now the +R format of Verbatim dual layer media is what is available. Verbatim is going to bring out -R format dual layer soon, it may even be available online, but not retail.
