Hello everyone. Haven't heard much on here about the slim PS2 and burning/playing backed up games. Here's what I got: Slim PS2(brand new), Liteon DVD+/-R/+/-RW Drive DVD +/-R DL (Double Layer) Burner, Swap Magic Version 3.6, DVD Decrypter. Trying to burn Madden 2006, what media and how should I go about the process, thanks.

Hi,
I havent yet burned a game successfully but trying again tommorow. All I know is that you need a good quality brand disk...copy at a low speed, like 4x or less...
There is a guide to burning games, its a sticky post in the forum near the top. its called "Patching, rebuilding games, how do you do it? [Guide]" and check for the thread written by black_ice.

With some games there are copy-protect files on there called 'dummy' files which u need to alter, when u copy it to the new disk. This requires a program called iso buster i think. Some ppl here say 'just use dvd decrypter' and thats it, but I really don't think its that straight forward.

Ive got the same burner and ps2, so let me know how it goes !!

for 95% of the games out there it really is that easy
Just use DVD Decrypter.
Mode->ISO->Read will copy it to your hard drive
you will get 2 files, an ISO & MDS file
Mode->ISO->Write will then write it to the new DVD
You choose the MDS file for this.

Yes there are a few games out there that need to be patched
or rebuilt, or even have dummy files replaced.
Then there are dual layer games (DVD9) that Swap Magic
just will not play the back up at all.
Read some of these tutorials and it may help you out
with some of the more popular burning methods

once you do a few it is really not that hard.

Best DVD's to use are:
TDK, Philips, Ritek G04, Verbatim and TY
Cheap brands like Memorex just do not seem to work well
And PSTwo's do not seem to like RW discs either
Stick to +R or -R
I like -R myself in 8X speed
burn most of the games at 4X

Also swap magic by itself will not allow you to play
your back up games. You will also need an aftermarket
flip top, or magic switch/slim tool
this will keep the PSTwo from resetting when you open
it to swap discs. See below links.
