Just made a backup of my Medal of Honor: Frontline DVD. To backup I used DVD Decryptor. First I created the ISO file with Mode Read, then I created the backup DVD with Mode Write. This worked without issue. I burned at 4x. (Sony DRU DVD Burner)
I used Magic Swap to boot my PS@, swapped the DVD and the DVD plays, but is very jerky and jumpy - actually played the backup for approximately 10 minutes and now it is froze.
This is the wrong forum for backing up PS & PS2 games. Perhaps, you may want to ask this question in the PS2 DVD back up forum, and I can guarantee you that you'll have more answers in regards to the issue you're having.
I'm trying to make sense to your question, so are you backing up a regular DVD5 or a DVD9 game? If it's a DVD9 game then you need to "rebuild" it on a DVD5 in order for Swap Magic to boot it up and play.
Just out of curiosity, what version is your PS or PS2? What version is your Swap Magic boot disc? What is the id code on your FUJI DVD-R media and is it a "Made In Japan" blank? If your FUJI is "M.I.J" then it is likely to be a decent media, but if it's not then it's a media issue right there.

The media says Made in Taiwan. Is this bad?

This sounds like a media issue to me. Honestly, I prefer the FUJI 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" with id code: YUDEN000-T02-00 - this is one genuine Taiyo Yuden media right there. I would say at least try to look for any SONY or FUJI 4X/8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" and you'll be square away. On the other hand, you can try with the MAXELL 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan" - this is made by Hitachi, it's one of the top high grade media in the same class as Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim as well. I've back up tons of PS2 games using both Maxell and FUJI 8X DVD+R "M.I.J" flawlessly.
Again, I honestly prefer the +R over any -R due to the fact that Nero or DVD Decrypter can book type the setting into a DVD-ROM format easily. Plus that definitely makes it easier for any PS2 console to read/play smoothly.
By the way, you never answer me when I asked you what version is your PS2?
