I have read some other threads .. and I have lloked at the guide to switching back to DMA ..but I have an issue with it ... when it says to click the advanced tab after going into the properties ... I don't have an advanced tab .. nor do I see anywhere where it mentions PIO or DMA ... IS the best solution just to uninstall and reboot... can this be dangerous in anyway... is there a small chance that windows may not recover and install it?

thanks for any help

Jake

in device manager, goto ide ata/atapi controllers, than click on either primary or secondary ide channel than properties. than click on advance setting tab. you'll see transfer mode - DMA if available then current transfer mode.

when I click on ide ata/atapi controllers it doesn't say primary or secondary .... all it shows is "NVIDIA nForce(TM) IDE Controller"
if I go to its properties there are tabs for only general, driver, details, and resourses ... thus no advanced tab and nowhere does it say whether its in pio or dma mode that I can see ...am I missing a step ?

Thanks for any help JAke

no, you are not missing a step. 1st time i've seen that as normally on intel, via & sis chipset boards, it has the primary & secondary controllers. did you check board manufacturer's faq site in reference to your problem?? is there an exclamation mark or unknown device(s) in device manager??
