This is the third time I have bought from these guys. And the first two orders were as advertised. I ordered some Taiyo Yuden disc 8x 100 pack and they pulled the famous "bait and switch" move on me and gave me BenQ DVD-R's instead... I ordered it under my wife's name so they probably thought since it was going to a girl the chances would be slim that she'd find out if they were fake or not. I will not believe that it is a mistake because of all the hoopla going around about people selling fake Taiyo Yuden discs... It's a real shame because of the reputation I thought they had for doing buisness the right way. As it turns out they're no different from the bad stores... I wonder what I could do about this besides contact the BBB I cannot let these assholes get away with jacking me.

Sorry, to hear about your bad experienced with them. I have never purchased anything from them before, so I can't really comment on how good or bad in regards to Meritline. I would call them up, send it back and have them send me the right media that I've ordered if I were you.
On the other hand, I've made 2 purchased from supermediastore.com and they seems to be legit so far. Good luck to you..!!

Meritline and Shop4tech have poor reputations for customer service as well as selling shady/fake media. Stick with reputable online retailers with a large following like Supermedia, Newegg, Rima, and Amazon.

I always thought they were #2 for some reason but I guess I was looking at the wrong list... Anyway, I've tried supermediastore before and it was legit. Like I said, even Meritline sent me the right discs twice before but now that I order under a different name (a female name at that...) I just happened to get the wrong discs as if they counted on this chick they're sending it to won't be able to tell the difference. Anyway, I guess I'll go the BBB route even after they send me the right order (if they even agree to do that) because this is some bullshit.
BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

i would stick to supermediastore as my #1 choice as i've put their kids thru college with the amount of purchases i made from them over the last few years, never got lucky with receiving the 8x for 4x priced Taiyo Yudens, but, genuine TYG01s EVERY TIME...thousands of them... :)
@kenneth1
why would you NOT trust amazon? i've bought Verbatims from them plenty of times when on sale and never ONCE was i scammed...got retail verbatims in the 100pack...while i admit their shipping/packaging is HORRIBLE/HORRENDOUS and my cakeboxes were shattered/damaged, but, they always offer legit stuff with free shipping to boot and no tax~ :)
ebay on the other hand, i will 100% agree with you, i will never buy media off ebay.

Thats just my personel prefrence, I like to buy form sites that are tried and true for good service and products, Those 2 sites have high shipping and dont do a good job of packing, they may be alright for other things, but I just wont buy media from them thats all

I ordered just once from Meritline. Don't know if I'll do it again even though my experience was positive.
What I ordered was 2 things.
Ridata 8x (G05) silver/marre DVD-R. The 100 pack came as four 25 packs. In the same well packed box was a surprize.
Ordered the Ritek silver (matte?) /blue 48x CDR's (for burning audiodiscs of mp3 files) & got the Ridata silver/matte 52x CDR's instead. If that was a bait & switch then they did it in my favor without telling me about it first!

@kenneth1
hey, works for me, we ALL have our own preferences from where we choose to buy from, i was mearly curious as to why you would not personally buy from them, that is all` :)
yeah, their packaging/shipping was HORRIBLE to say the least, my cakebox was shattered upon arrival, i got lucky that none of the discs were actually damaged tho...but, i agree with your logic. have a good one~ and good luck w/ your future media purchases.

None of my two 50 packs of Ridata CDR's were damaged nor were the four 25 disc DVD-R packs. Outer box had no damage (from UPS) either...

Have you contacted Meritline? I have ordered from them for years with no problems. The 2 small problems I ever had were taken care of in a few days. You haven't said anything about what their position on this problem is. The first time I heard about fake TY's were from Supermedia store. Stores like Meritline and Supermedia store DO NOT make the media. I would at least give them a chance to make it right before saying they did it on purpose.

Haha... well, I myself am not exactly sure how they're going to take care of this because english obviously isn't their first language and I'm having trouble getting what they're telling me. They say (if I understood them correctly) that they're gonna send me a return label to ship it back then give me a full refund. Problem is, before I realized they were fake Taiyo I used about 6 of the discs. They look exactly alike so I didn't check authenticity until I ran into a data verification problem I had with a burned disc (Taiyo's never give me that error). So, I told them about it and here's what I got:
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, we will mail you one return label to return, and pls return all
the 100 pack dvdr back then.
Thank you very much.
If we may be of further assistant, pls feel free to email back.
Best Regards,
Ok, so that basically says to me that I have to return ALL the discs back to get a refund... that's bs though because like I said I did not realize they were fake discs till after I used some of them.
Here's the latest in the BS from Meritline. This stuff is classic:
Dear Tim,
I'm so sorry for that.
I thought one return label had been mailed to you.
Don't worry about that, let me hasten sb who is in charge of it to send
you one ASAP.
Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation.
If we may be of further assistant, pls feel free to email back.

Put the used ones in the middle of the pile and send them back. I doubt they will check through all of them.

I have ordered from Meritline several times and have never had a problem with my TY's. Mine came in the taped pack, no spindle or cakebox. I don't think they would sit around counting the disks to make sure they were all there.
