Hi. I have an Mpeg2 program stream of 75 mins which I want to burn to DVD without image degradation. I can't use TMPGEnc software - any other good options. I just want to drag (or 'add'!) my Mpeg 2 file and see it encode for DVD!
Help appreciated..

is that as opposed to TMPGEnc dvd author the companion software to tmpg encoder.
As the file is already an mpeg2 configuration there is no probs you are in the right format.
Do you have Nero? or one of the spinoffs like recode?

I have Nero - not Neromix though. Just Burning Rom and so on. It tells me I need to ready the Mpeg2 files elsewhere.
I also have TMPGEnc DVD Author.. and have downloaded many trials of other DVD authoring programs.
My difficulty is that my footage is 50p. It seems that's difficult or impossible to burn on a standard DVD.
The irony is this 50p footage is really 25p. The packet structure is 50p, and I don't know how to change that. It's Mpeg 2 Transport Stream, or Mpeg 2 Program Stream if I put it through RemuxTS. But in both forms, it's still encoded at 50p. Even though there's only 25 differences a second.
Note: I'm not talking about 50i. I'm talking about 25p packaged in the stream as 50p. There's nothing I can do to change that!
Windows Media Player and Real Player play it perfectly - but TMPGEnc Express 3.0 plays it 2x the speed, as do many apps. Others say they can't put 50p on a DVD.

ok tell me, does the file go in TMPGEnc dvd author and make the dvd ok?
if not load to DivXtoDVD (try get free version!) and it will output your dvd files (or should)

No, TMPGEnc DVD Author rejects it because it's 50p.
I will try DivXtoDVD.
It's a quirky format - that's why it's confusing :)

Why do you say streaming video? MPEG isn't a streaming format like RAM or WMV. Anyway, if you have Nero, you probably have NeroVision Express. So just use it and follow the wizard from MPEG to DVD.

I didn't say streaming video, I said stream. I should have been more specific. I am dealing with Mpeg2 Transport Stream / Mpeg2 Program Stream.. it doesn't matter which as I can encode the former to the latter with Remux TS. But the 50fps prob remains either way.
Would appreciate the name of that app, Rotary.

Well, I downloaded DVD Patcher 1.06 from the address on the image. It's a nice app, but when I converted a sample to 25 fps the picture then, did indeed, play at 50% speed!
I guess the only way to fix this is to find a burning app that, like Windows Media Player and Real Player, doesn't get thrown by the 50fps. That DivXtoDVD played it at the right speed like I said in my PM, but there were quality issues.
TMPGEnc Plus - I dunno, because TMPGEnc DVD Author & Express 3.0 both got confused by the 50fps. Is Plus free? Any other software? Tried Adobe Encore and it rejected 50fps.

Yeah, DVD Author accepted it once the header was patched to 25 and the bit rate to 8, but the final DVD played pic twice the speed! As I said, in TMPGEnc it played at half the speed..
The TMPGenc/NEro result was great quality, though - and reminds me why I must crack this!
Perhaps I don't need to change the frame rate. Perhaps some apps will get the 50fps and some won't, as has been the case so far, i.e. DivXtoDVD had no need for the frame rate/bit rate to be changed... but unfortunately had weird distortion.
Any other Mpeg2 -- DVD apps you can recommend? I'll just try them all!

Hi,
just tried DVD Lab. What a great program! Unfortunately it, too, rejected the 50 fps. I tried patching the file and DVD accepted it but then it crashes when trying to compile the DVD.
I know there's a solution out there. After all, DivxtoDVD had no problem with the 50 fps framerate. It just played it. I don't know how it dealt with it, but it was okay. Problem was, distortion.
I know there's a DVD application out there that will just accept my Mpeg2, like DivxtoDVD, but no distortion.
Just haven't come across it yet..
