Why is it I can back up my movies onto dvdrw and I cant onto dvdr. They are both the same brand disk but only half of the movie, if that, will get copied onto dvdr. I have cut out all the extras and it is well below required space for this type of media.

Welcome to the forum. What is the name of the movie you are doing. Also what are the system specs of the computer and include the burner's name and model # along w/ the firmware version the burner is using. Please also include the the name brand of the blank media you are using. D/L DvdinfoPro ( free and you can Google for it) and do a media test to see who the real manuf of those disks are. Please post back those results for us to look at.
