You will need to use DVD Shrink to make the files fit unto a regular single layer DVD disk (DVD5) there is a guide at my website (the first guide there) that shows you exactly what you need to do. The link is in my signature. If you are backing up to a dual layer disk (DVD9) then there is also a guide at my website for this process as well..

Good luck :-)

Thank you very much for your speedy reply. I have skipped through your guide ( which I have printed ) and it seems that even I can follow your very well documented guidance . I will study it closely asap. I am looking forward to giving it a try. Once again , sincere thanks for taking the trouble to help me. Best regards.

bbmayo
at the end of August you gave me some good advice about how to use Fab/Shrink/Decrypter . It has worked flawlessly until last night when I backed up my copy of Kingdom of Heaven. This played until about 20 mins before the when it screwed up. First the pixels enlarged and then it froze for a while when resuming it had out of sync. problems too.
I wonder what went wrong ? Any views please?

regards

Sounds like too fast or a burn speed. My parents DVD player always played discs burnt at 6x, and then one day the same thing happened, pixels, so I changed the speed to 4x and it worked. Not sure why this happened....

That or just using poor media or you may have just had a bad burn. You could give it another go. First make sure the files are playing alright from your computer though. If they are then just try re-burning the disk at a speed lower than x4. Make sure you are not doing anything else on your computer at the same time either as this could effect the outcome.

Let me know how it works out for you :-)

I have had a similar problem with shrink on long films anything over 2.5hrs and I only do the movie what happens is about 20-15minutes before the end it starts to stutter, skip and stop, its really annoying I also noticed most of these films are compressing below 60% like is that to much compression for the player? now they do play in my pc just not my dvd player. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a better player currently I am using a cyberhome 300 purchased it because it played every disc format there is along with jpeg, mpeg, and mp3 and honestly I haven't found an affordable alternative. The Media I use is almost always one of these three with my prefrence beig Khypermedia, Memorex, Maxell, I have also tried Fuji and get them whenever I can on sale. I have to admit I am on a shoestring budget.

@elliott

Make sure you set your target size at 4300 to 4334 this will help you from burning to close to the edge. Also use deep analysis on everything below 90% this will help Shrink better meet the target size and improve quality. Use the AEC quality enhancements. I use Smooth when I have 20 to 30% compression and Max Smooth for anything above that, this will also improve quality and pixellation.

Hi

Firstly thanks to bbmayo, i have just been reading your "Guides"........

Absolutely Fantastic!

Ok now heres my problem :(

Just a little one!

If i rip a disk to HDD with DVDFab express or Gold - It rips fine.

Then i open it up with DVDShrink 3.2 and want to do an ISO of the whole disk i get the following error

DVDShrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Invalid data in file c:\ my directory\ VTS_09_1.VOB

BTW the dvd is Shrek

However if i use bbmayos method in Guides (first one) i can write the ISO of just the Movie without all the crap no probs ?

Why is this ?

Thanks in Advance

Dave

Sounds like a bad .VOB file? You could try ripping that file again with DVDDecrypter into the same directory and see if that works. Actually with shrek you could probably bypass the ripping with any of those and just use DVD Shrink from start to finish.

I agree with bbmayo, I did this movie way back when using the old 321 Xcopy which is very outdated. Just redid it using Shrink and it worked out fine, I only did movie only.
