DRE only on DVD but not CD

My ps2 V4 with duo2SE chip just got a DRE (disc read error) on all DVD (backup and orginal) games including movies. The only games that it boot up and play are CDs game. Opened up and tried to adjust the laser height and cleaned the lens. Still get the DRE. Do I need a new laser or I can boot up HD Loader (CD) and use a hard drive. Can I use my computer to upload the DVD games to the hard drive and use the CD to boot it up on the ps2?

Yes, you will have to download a program called winhiip I PMed you a download link. Just hook the PS2 HD to your PC's secondary slave and also set the jumper to slave then boot PC up and run winhiip. It's pretty simple after that.You have options for deleting and transfering iso files. good luck

if you want to use the discs. it does sound like you laser has quit on you as far as dvd's go. that happened to me. got a new laser and now i'm back in buisness.

you are lucky since you can boot games using hd loader

Hi, I have excactly the same problem with my PS Two V12, one day it just stopped playing games. I found that it would only play 1 CD game and no music CD's but I adjusted both pots and all the CD games and music worked fine but I just can't get any DVD format stuff to work at all, backups or originals iv'e tried loads of adjustments. Does this mean that my laser is shot??
