I am trying to make a backup for Men in Black Deluxe Edition using Shrink and Decrypter. Shrink gets to 97% done in the initial analize phase and stops...popping up a message reading "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue"..."Failed to read file D:\"..."the parameter is incorrect". I tried to rip the DVD to my hard drive as an ISO file as well then use Shrink and also came up with an error message at the 97% point saying..."failed to seek in file "ISO File"". Is my original DVD bad? I have used Shrink and decrypter for a couple of months now and this is the first time I have had any problems with either. I did a search for Men In Black to see if there has been any previous talk of this DVD but came up with nothing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Did you use DVD Decrypter to rip to a ISO file? If so, re-rip it in DVD Decrypter but, rip it in file mode.

Use DVD Decrypter to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").

Then use DVD Shrink to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk") - and select "VIDEO_TS.IFO" or the actual "VIDEO_TS" folder.

A good tutorial on how to accomplish this is located here: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45238

jmet...tried what you suggested and it failed as well. Got down to the last file to rip with decrypter and came up with another error message. Weird. It is like it is getting hung up around the same place whichever way I try to do it...right at the end. Oh well, may have to just chalk it up to can't be done. But I hate to give up!

What is the exact error message you get word for word with DVD Decrypter?

It sounds like your disk has some imperfection on it, could be a scratch, smudge, or dirt. Try giving it a good clean, or take it back and get another original, it could be a bad press.

jmet...here is the message:

I/O Error!

Device [0:0:0]SONY DVD-ROM ...

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CBD: 28 00 00 32 1E 40 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read(10) - Sector 3284544

Sense Area: Long Range of numbers blah blah blah...
Interpretation: Logical Block Address out of Range

This time it happened at 90% complete on the next to last file. Again this occurred when ripping with Decrypter in file mode.

Update your firmware for that drive. Try to rip it with a different drive. Obtain a different copy.
