I just modded my slimline PS2
I´m sure the answer to my question is here sumwhere but I get a headache searching the forum. What I did: I backedup Tekken 5,Fifa Street,Fantastic 4,TIF2005 and Def Jam Fight for NY, using Alchohol120. I just made an image and burned it into a DVDR.I thought that was all.Simple as that. But the games wont work :-( can anybody tell me what I did wrong and what I need to do to make a good WORKIN backup. Tnx :)

How did you mod your PS2 did you install everything right?
could be cheap media, you could be burning them to fast dont burn over 4X try using DVD Decryptor or nero make an image file and burn that. It seems you have done it the way you should do it. Most likly you have bad media quility or burrned it to fast.

I used sony DVD+R so that aint the problem. My PS2 was modded by pro´s and they showed me it worked with backuped games so that aint the problem.I THOUGHT the problem was some kind of protection that this games have,Id-tag or something, and that because of this protection burnin wouldnt be so easy as just makin an image an burnin it.. . I´m gonna give dvddecrypt a try now,see if that works.

NOPE I bacedup Need for speed underground 2 with DVD-decrypter and it still wont work! Everything went right. When I put the burned DVD in my PS2 is says ´insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc´. It was modded right. I have some old backedup games from PS1 that work. I think the problem is some kind of game protection???DNAS OR SOMETHING?? pfff

Nope, Need For Speed Underground 2 is a strait up
copy. Nothing special to it
I did mine with DVD Decrypter and it works fine
Same with Def Jam, and Tekken 5
Fifa Street and Fantastic 4 may have to be rebuilt
if i remember correctly. So the problem must lie with the
media or something else.
You never did answer the question of how it was modded.
By professionals is not an answer.
If they put in a mod chip, what kind?
Also have you tried any -R DVD's?
I find those work better for me.
Philips, TDK, Verbatim

I also used Phillips DVD+R. The problem is my burner just burns DVD+. I dont remember the modchip name the guy at the store said it was one of the latest modchips.maybe DMS4 f14 or the ripper2gold. But he showed me it worked, he put a backup of GTA San Andreas (phillips dvd) in my PS2 and it worked perfectly.Instantly.this was yesterday. The modding costed me 125 euros (sumthing like 120dollar).
I live in the netherlands so maybe the PAL version of this games does need rebuilding. But I guess you use PAL 2.(and like I said most of my PS1 backups DO work)

no, i'm NTSC
But you can try to rebuild it and see if that helps.
But since i got my mod chip (DMS4 Pro) i have not
had to rebuild anything. With a chip you should't have to.
I have not tried any games on +R yet.
I would find out what chip they put in. That info will
come in handy when asking questions.
If you get a logo that says Toxic with a skull when
you start the PS2 then it is a DMS4 chip of some kind.

If you havent tried other DVDs other then the Sonys then you need to try a diffrent brand. I hade a pac of Sony DVD+R and they wouldnt play on my PS2 I changed to diffrent media and it took right off. So just cause its Sony DVD+R media and your palying it on a Sony system dosent mean it automaticly will work. Just cause it has Sony on the brand name dosent mean Sony is the manufacture of it. So try new media.
If your not willing to try diffrent media then your wasiting or time here.

was the copy of GTA San Andreas that the guy showed you on DVD+R or DVD-R? Some PS2's don't like the +R format...
Does your DVD+RW Drive let you change the Booktype of Discs? Or there may possibly be a Firmware upgrade for your Burner that will allow you to change the Booktype to DVD-ROM when burning... That way your PS2 thinks it's a DVD-ROM and not a DVD+R

I burned it at both 4x and 2x, sime result. The thing is,since I just have a DVD+RW burner, and i needed to burn DVD-R I went to some1 with a DVD-Rwburner, but its on a LAPTOP...I burned a DVD+R on my own computer and changed the bookmark to DVD-R and FINALLY I´ve got a WORKIN backup. But the backups that didnt work, could it be because I used a LAPTOP for burnin this backups??And is my Ghost modchip a good one?

The store was wrong and missinformed you when they said PS2 wont read DVD+R disc. I have a slimline PS2 and thats all i use is DVD+R disc. I uasly get 100pack of Imations at wal-mart and they play perfect on my PS2 and backing up movies. Havent had a problem yet. But that dosent mean you will have good luck with them. its trial and error find disc that work best with your burrner and your slimline. It took me going threw a few brands of DVDs to find ones that work for my system. Went threw Memorex, sony, maxwell had problems with all them brands. The only brands that seemd to work for me was imation and fuji DVD+R

Well if I burn DVD+R as DVD+R they dont work. When I use DVD+R in DVD-R mode they DO work.so it seems that they were right tellin me DVD+ wont work IN MY CASE. I´m usin sony and phillips.there is no way burnin DVD-R in a DVD+RWwriter right? because I bought a 10-pack of DVD-R thinkin the DVD+R would never work.but now I know how 2 burn a DVD+R like a DVD-R.does any1 here use a laptop 2 make backups?

I would just go with what seems to work best for you....
I don't know why the DVD-R don't work for you.. Those are the standard so they should work... Maybe the DVD+R are just better quality I don't know.... if you only have DVD+RW Drive it's not going to allow you to burn onto DVD-R Discs... You can try one. it's just going to reject it if can't
Not all PS2's Like the +R format.. and not all the Slims like them either.... It all depends on the laser that is in your machine...
So I would stick with the DVD+R burning them as DVD-ROM Book Type and if the DVD-R do work in your drive great if not.. Sell them to your Buddy :)

you could also see if theres an updated firmware for your burrner that will let you burn DVD-R disc format.
Or try diffrent DVD+R media maybe your PS2 dont like the particular blank media your using.
but if you bought DVD-R media and your drive dosent recognize it then your burrner dont take DVD-R disc. Which if that is the case see if there is uddated firmware.
