I have alrady tried to search for this topic and I am still confused. I just purchased a DCR-DVD92 hanycam. I want to copy the DVD to my hard drive. Is this possible with out a DVD burning drive. I can play the DVD's on the computer but I want to save them to the hard drive to view without inserting the DVD. Is this possible. If so could some provide detailed instructions or where to get detailed instrusctions. Thanks
welcome ralphusmc since your home dvd should have no protection on it you should be able to dvd shrink and it would also let you do a good amount of editing and re-authoring
what happens when you use windows to open your drive after inserting the dvd?
if you are reading the dvd click properties to see what format the files are in mp3 avi ??? may need to be reformatted to use the editting options in shrink
also on my vaio I have an analog input I can hook up the source through rca/stereo cables you might have similar!
If the camcorder records on a DVD that you can just insert into a standalone player and watch, then it should have the same DVD file structure as any DVD. Insert DVD into PC. Look for directory called VIDEO_TS. Drag and copy this folder to your hard drive as if it were a bunch of data files. If you have a PC/DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD, you should be able to play the DVD as if it were in your player. No burner needed. No ripping software like DVD Shrink needed.
