Hi people I am have loads of problems with burning my riped dvd's from shrink. Analyzing and Encoding are fine however when it comes to burning with Nero a message pops up "This disc is not writable". I dont think its anything to do with the disc it self as there fine to burn on to, on my other computer. I have tried reinstalling nero and shrink many times and even upgraded nero to 6.6.0.16. I am at my wits end, can anyone suggest anything? I was thinking of using dvd decrypter to burn with can anyone explaine step by step how to do this?

@Gdude
U can use DVD Decrypter by following this guide
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm

Also u can use CloneDVD 2 it works like a charm also remember its shareware but its worth either the investment or P2P :)

Thanxs and keep me posted...

Are you using the same burner on both computers? Have you checked to see if your firmware is up to date for the burner you are using? Is your DMA enabled for the computer you are using? Post a log of your failed burn. For a guide on using Shrink and Decrypter go here

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/backup%20with%20Decrypter&Shrink.pdf

Just remember you can only burn iso images with Decrypter so you must use Shrink to encode, unless your file is below the 4.3g limit and then you can just use Decrypter in iso read and then write mode.

Instead of us asking countless questions, simply post a Nero log. It will contain most if not all the answers we are asking.

To do so, go here: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero
Look for a file named "NeroHistory.log"
Open that file up and copy the last log in it.
Then paste it here.

Questions lead to answers. Nero logs do not always answer everything.

True, they don't answer everything. But, they do answer alot (Mostly everything you need to know) and can very easily help assist you in diagnosing the problem and coming up with a solution.

What media are you using, it is not being recognized, try the firmware update and see if this corrects the problem.

Free up some memory! All of the icons next to your PC clock, you need to right click them and exit them.

As suggested, update your firmware. Here is the "direct: link to the firmware for your burner: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1944

Also as suggested, turn on DMA. - Check your DMA settings - How ? do this -> Go to Control Panel> System> Hardware Tab> Device Manager> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers> Right Click Primary IDE channel (and Secondary IDE channel after you finish with Primary)> Properties> Advanced Settings Tab> Transfer Mode or go here to learn: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616

Do the above from both "Primary & Secondary IDE channels".

I (We) and you need to look at whats in both "Transfer Mode" and "Current Transfer Mode". Screen shot below is what I'm talking about.

You can also look here for some other solutions: http://sniptools.com/vault/getting-back-to-dma-mode-in-windows-xp.htm

If it is in "PIO" mode. Click the "Driver" tab, and uninstall the driver. Then reboot. Upon rebooting windows will automatically reinstall the driver and it should go back to "DMA" mode.

you can always do 'simulation burns' thus not wasting any discs, Nero will go thru the motions with a blank disc. you could then post the latest section of log again and we could go from there...

You maybe using bad discs or a DVD that already has data on it. Also if your burner is not a dual layer (+ and -) recorder you must find out which one you have + or - and then try.

NEC DVD RW ND 3520A EXTERNAL
NERO 6.6.0.16
