bbmayo,
You are correct as that proggy is excellent. If people are looking for a free ripper then I tell them to use that one as the company does update it when needed

I tried DVDFab and to my surprise it ripped the entire movie with no problems.
Thanks for the tip.

I returned the original back to Best Buy today and purchased a new DVD of Sahara. This one ripped perfect except I had to re-author and grab just the main title because otherwise everything wouldn't fit. Again thanks for all your help.

There is nothing special about Sahara.
DVD Shrink can do it without anything runing in the background.
Make sure you have the latest firmware for your reader and or burner.
Always use Good Media.

It does sound like a bad disc.
The Cell is a New Line Cinema movie.
No special encryption, anyone of those programs can rip it.

I just backed-up Shara using DVD43, Decrypter, and DVD Shrink 3.2 . But I did have trouble with another movie, don't remember which one, i cleaned it with a cleaner and backed-up perfect. I haven't had anyother problems backing up DVD's.

all i can add is that i did this movie with DVD Shrink on it's lonesome. and that for the first time ever, for a laugh, i tried enhancements etc -
After 1500+ movies done using DVD Shrink with not once doing one with quality enhancements turned on, for this movie i tried the enhancements for a laugh, took blumming ages, but turned out great. I suspect however, it would have turned out fine without enhancements.
i did shrink it twice as well as the enhancements, that was also for a laugh as haven't had to do that before either.

My first crack at ripping and burning this DVD was unsuccessful. I tried Shrink, Decrypter, FabDecrypter with and without AnyDVD running in the background. I even had difficulty having my player recognize the DVD when it was in the unit itself. There appeared to be some insignificant smudges or scratches on the disk itself. Even after cleaning the disk numerous times I was still unable to get any joy in ripping the movie from this DVD. I returned the DVD to the store and requested a replacement copy. This time, with AnyDVD running in the background and using Shrink, success was to be had. I was able to rip the movie, re-author and burn it with Nero. In conclusion, I guess those smudges or scratches were not so insignificant after all. If you still have no luck, try replacing the DVD.

I also can't get past VTS_05_3.VOB with decrypter. Latest firmware and program versions. I'll try dvdFab.

Yep, nothing worked. Back to Target I go. Hopefully they give me a refund so I can go to another store and to buy from a different batch.

Has anyone had trouble with "Are we There Yet" ? I keep getting an error with Shrink, I have cleaned it and tried a repair kit. It has some scraches. I really think it is the disk but just making sure. I did have DVD43 or Sly Fox running when I tried to backup.

If you have AnyDVD running, and I hope not at the same time as DVD43 as that can cause conflicts, you should be able to back up this movie. Try ripping it with Decrypter in file mode, with or without AnyDVD, and see if you get CRC errors. If you do then it is more than likely your disk, so take it back and get another original.

I tried every way, I have Decrypter too. I was just making sure because every program stopped and it is a fairly new movie. Thanks I'll get another one soon.
