I burned a DVD from a DivX file and it will play on the computer, but not on a regular DVD player. If anyone can help it would be great.
PS. I also have DVD shrink and I've made many DVDs with it and now all of a sudden, I've tried two and neither of them work. I use Nero burning and Sony DVD+R discs. any help would be awesome!! Thx

Well all I can think of is to maybe try useing a Different Method for makeing your DVD"s.....

I personally prefer useing a Good Standalone Mpeg encoder like the "MainConcept Encoder or TMPGEnc Pluss" to encode my files to Mpeg-2 and then i use "MediaChance DVDLab pro" to add my menu"s and Chapters and to Burn the DVD....I have never had any problems useing this Method....

Hey minion, i use mainconcept also, but i am having a problem with the resolution. currently after i make it into an mpeg2 from maincincept, i author it with TMPGEnc DVD author. But the TMPGEnc author says that the resolution needs to be 720x480 (the movie was downloaded and came as 760x432) but the only way i can make it fit is by manually changing the resolution, but that stretches the picture in the final product. Is there a way to download black bars or does it have to do with the ratio selected (4:3, 16:9)? Thanks

You have to select 720+480 for NTSC or 720+576 for PAL and if you have a Regular TV set select 4:3 and if you have a Widescreen TV set then select 16:9.....

Some encoders do not properly resize the resolution of the source files so it looks proper on a TV set (No Stretching or Squishing of the Image)

I just Did a Little test with mainconcept and it Resized my File to Fullscreen but stretched it to Full screen so it looked out of Perportion and I couldn"t configure the settings to do it properly without stretching the image.....

I know how to Configure TMPGEnc to encode files without stretching them so if you want to try useing it and tell me the resolution of your Source File I can tell you how to set up TMPGEnc to encode your File to 720+480 without stretching the Image.....

Cheers

Minion, my original file is 680x480, i tried just changing it to 720x480 then cropping 40 on each side totaling the 80 that i added. This seemed very n00bish cause now that i think about it, will this just stretch it horizontally then cut some of the edges? If so, damn im stupid. But if there is a way to do it with TMPGEnc then im all ears!! Thanks for your help! Also, i had another thread about audio out of synce maybe u know how to fix that too. Here is the other thread pasted:

Ok, this is the situation. I downloaded some Bittorrent files from online and I:
1) Downloaded GSpot, found the proper codec to play them and downloaded that codec
2) Used Main Concept MPEG Converter to turn these .AVI files to .mpg
3) Used TMPGEnc author to create menus and made the Video_TS and Audio_TS from this. (I did not burn it to a DVD+R yet because it was too big)
4) Then I used DVDShrink to compress the movie so it would fit
5) Then I went back to TMPEnc author and used the DVD burner software
6) Then I had a finalized, burned DVD

Problems:
Acutally it plays in my DVD player, which greatly shocked me. But the audio was out of sync and I dont know where in my steps this problem arised from. Any help here on how to fix this will help me greatly!
Also, some of the captions would extend to far laft and right off the TV screen, when they were staying inscreen on the computer. ANy way to fix this?? (i think i was messing this up in mainconcept)

Thanks for all your help!!
