I just used the
shrinkto5 DVD ripper and it worked perfectly the first time I copied a movie. It took about 7 minutes to copy it to my hard drive and 7 minutes to copy it to the DVD. I was impressed.

The second movie did not work in my DVD Pioneer DVD player recorder.

I opened up old reliable Shrink and did a deep analysis, saved it to my hard drive and it seems to work okay.
Any ideas appreciated.

I had the same problem as you.
The program worked ok but the resulting files are not very compatible with dvd players.

AgentK thanks for the input. I am going to keep watching this forum for any other Shrinkto5 input. We may get more tips as we go along.
Thanks

that program is trash to me! I couldn't even set the Source or Target files .... it froze my machine up!!!!! So if you guys got it to work...... but it doesn't play the DVD on your stand alones...... well you're one up on me! I uninstalled it as fast as I could.... did a registry clean up and rebooted! I couldn't wait to get it out of my machine!~

I have to agree it is extremely buggy, not sure what the value of the program is anyway. I will stick with the tried and true DVD Shrink or Recode at least I know they work. Just like IHoe I could not get it to work.

I couldn't get it to work long than 10 seconds on either version. I uninstalled them several times using Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel. I discovered they didn't completely uninstall. I deleted the shortcuts and .exe files manually. Is there anything else I should remove to make sure it's gone? I've only removed stuff from the registry under direct supervision from someone else.

@sharee

If you unsure about using a reg cleaner then do not do it. However, do a virus scan and spyware scan to make sure that there is nothing else that came in.

I have 6 movies coming in today and I am going to try the program again. I have only done two movies with shrinkto5 so far. I feel that I will give it a good try.

I also have AnyDVD and Clone DVD2 they are good but still not perfect. Sometimes I must use Shrink with Deep Analysis to make it work.

I tried this program and all it does is give me a windows error message. I have tried several times and on a few tries it looked like it did work but wouldn't play on any of my dvd players. I even downloaded all the plugins and it seemed to work worse after the downloads. It will be worth checking back and look for more updated versions.

I use DVD Decrypter and/or DVD Shrink. But I'm also open to trying new stuff. I've tried 1Click DVD Copy, VSO Copy to DVD and DivX to DVD, DVD Fab Decrypter, VOB Sub, and DVD X Copy. some work, some don't work very good. I just discovered I didn't have to use DVD Decrypter before using DVD Shrink.

I used the program twice first on an old movie Jason's Lyric after down loading that Machist.dll file it ripped the movie fast, i used Nero recode to burn the movie and when i put it into my stand alone dvd player it kept skipping and freezing then i lost all audio when it did play. The second time is used it to rip the bourne supremacy but when i went to burn the movie recode kept giving me and error message and so did DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter wouldn't even recognize the files. So my opinion about this software is you et what you pay for. It needs alot more work. Hopefully the developers of the software are reading these forums.

I am still working on shrinkto5. I understand that I need machinist.dll to decrypt the movie and make it work properly. Does anyone know a download site for machinist.dll?
Thanks

I need a machinist.dll file to insert into shrinkto5 to decrypt a movie to work with shrinkto5. Minova is a download site for the machinist.dll file.

I was able to download it but I was unable to get it open. It came in a zip program and asks me how to open it. When I open it it just goes to anoter zip file.

Duh................

Try WinZIP it usually works for me on zip files. I assume you just insert the dll into the program.

I downloaded shrinkto5 and it won't even start. I get some error about the program terminating in an unexpected way. I have no idea what that means.

Hi I have used shrink 5 with no problems, i did notice that unlike other rippers, it did not create 1gb VOB files, but broke them down to 500mb files. I do not use it's decryper, i use AnyDVD as it better. I have found though that the over all quaility of the moves, was not that to bad, out of the 3 i did one was poor, but like they say it's early days for this program. I will still use older version of DVDxcopy and Shrink/Recode

I have it along with the FoxBurner.dll that is needed in order to make it burn. Have not got it to work correctly yet. Have posted many posts on their forum and not got a good solution yet.

I did not really need it as I have lots of reliable burning programs that I use but I wanted to see what it was and give it a whirl. Still do if I can get it to work.

I use ANYDVD in background to break code so don't need their so called machinist.dll.
