Cyclitical Redundancy Check: These are usually read errors. Dity/scratched/and bum discs are usually the culprit.Clean them thoroughly and give them a good look.
However,on the newer releases with the sony arrcos encryption-it will give DVD Shrink that crc error during the initial analysis-the quick 2 minute analysis.

Latest version of shrink I believe is 3.2
It hasn't been updated in over a year. But another background ripper called AnyDVD by slysoft will pull off the newer encryptions that DVD Shrink can't rip. You can download the free 21 day trial.

What's the name of those newer dvds you are trying to backup and giving you the crc errors?

Or (freeware) option is DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter. Then use the "Open Files" button (Not Open Disc) in DVD Shrink to load the files.

Nexxtech is usually made by CMC Mag - probably the worst possible manufacturer. Burn at 4x or less to cut down on problems. Even if they burn okay playback may have problems or they will degrade over time.
Use quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus. To find TY's in store look for made in Japan on Fuji and Sony. These might be a few cents more per disc but in the long run worth it.
