What is the exact error message you are getting? And with which program are you getting it with?

Is this a original or a copy?

Hello there. I am having similar problems. I'm not at home right now, but I think that those are the same two discs I am having problems with. The boxset of season 4 is brand new, totally clean, yet i'm getting CRC errors on the same VOB files (2_1 and 3_1). For disc 3, I eventually just selected 'ignore read errors' in DVD Decrypter and it eventually burned the troublesome episode fine (2_1) but the extras in 3_1 were totally screwed, and even restart when played and they're covered in glitches. Strangely the original disc plays fine.

Before I try to extract and shrink disc 4, I was wondering if these crc errors may be caused by a new kind of copy protection. I ask due to the odd coincidence of the same file names being the ones affected on both discs. Or a strange new kind of structure protection? All the old seinfeld discs were OK, and season 4 only just came out in the UK.... Anyone got any ideas? For disc 3 i had to re-author it with no menus (pain in the ass).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gun Cop.

guncop,
As far as I know there is no new encryptions out You just probably have a bad press. D/L AnyDVD ( free 21 day trial version) and use that in conjunction w/ Shrink to try the movie. If I am not mistaken you are not the only one that has problems w/ those disks. I think it was a bad press that was the cause.

I agree with Car.Mike try AnyDVD, there was a bunch of people over at CDFreaks that had this problem with Season 4 Region 1. And it took the slysoft people about a week to figure it out. They got the updates out for Region 1, don't know if UK version is going to be different as you say it just came out.

i managed disk 2 ok. Definitely disc four and either 2 or 3 went wrong. Even though there were loads and loads of read errors the episode was fine. Can you copy it if you turn on 'ignore read errors'?

I'm going to give AnyDVD a try tonight.

Also, Do newer dvd burners (such as dual layer ones) read protected discs better? i.e. less read errors?

guncop,
The problems you are having is a bad press. Some programs just copy across it and the program does not care until you view it. It then gets pixels or blank spots on the DVD as you view it.. If you ignore the errors DVDDecrypter will usually pass over them but you might get the above when viewed. As far as the burners I do not use mine to read the disk as I use a DVD-rom for that. I have not heard of any of the newer burners reading through the errors as it will just transmit that data to the computer

maniani,
You have a bad press and need to return it for a better copy
