I need to know how to burn downloaded movies from net to a DVD. I downloaded Duece Bigalow European Style from 360 share, burned it using NERO 6, but the DVD will only play in the computer. How can I get to play on a regular DVD Player? I tried Shrink and Decryptor, but they both say invalid file format.

You need to check the actual format of the movie. DVD format is mpeg-2. I am assuming you have a .AVI which is probably in some DivX/XviD format. You will first have to encode your movie to DVD standard and then you will be able to burn it.

I use TMPGEnc or WinAvi for this. WinAvi is much faster and easier to use, but TMPGEnc does a better job. There are other programs that should be able to do it like avi2dvd and some of those simple authoring programs like Nero Vision Express and DVD Builder.

THX JG, but check this out I got Nero vision and dvd plug-in took the 2 movies (1 of 1 & 2 of 2) put them together it showed 1 movie with a total time of over an hour not the 2 seperate movies. This time I checked made sure the settings were NTSC no menus just auto play. It burned something, took about 45 min to hr put it in the DVD player it loaded but nothing. Up to this point the other ones look like a slide show presentation, but I did choose make DVD. Oh, Yeah since you responded I got WIN-AVI,divix to DVD and,Media Joiner> I know I don't need all that so If you don't mind let me know which one or ones to use and some dummy proof instuctions(ha,ha):)

I'm also trying to find the best converter - Win AVI is fast, but i don't like it because it didn't copy it in decent quality, and one movie i converted from Win AVI wouldn't even fit on the disc even when i set it to convert to a standart 4.7 GB DVD disc.

I would probably use DivX to DVD (im downloading it right now). It sounds like you're having a burning problem and that's why your DVD won't play - it should NOT take 45 minutes to burn. Or you cold be trying to play it in a older DVD player...

hi

for XviD avi

aswell as divxtodvd

film machine and avi2dvd i use CCE as the outside encoder, but it has its own few to choose from

i would recommend jionning in virtualdubmod then do whole file.

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Out of the ones you downloaded, I have used WinAVI. As stated by Cody_7, it is fast, but not that good in terms of quality. However, if you are converting movies that already have bad quality, it will not make a difference. It is important that you have a registered version of WinAVI, because it will leave a watermark (actually an advertisement) in the middle of the screen.

It is very simple to use. When you open it up, click on the DVD button. Then select one of the files you want to convert. Then click the advanced button. Make sure the TV format you want is correct, and also make sure you do not convert the aspect ratio from the original. Audio bitrate at 192000 is good, and set the preference according to your liking. I always choose speed when I use WinAVI, because I use this one when I do not care much about quality. Make sure your file is getting split at 1013 MB and set your video quality to whatever you want. Medium is pretty fast and highest will slow down a bit. If you think it will fill up the disc use the constant video size option.

Next go to the Encode Tab and make sure your source is correct (either 4:3 or 16:9). Also, make sure you look at the preivew, because I have had some clips go upside down with this converter. This is the reason I say convert one file at a time. Just make sure to rename each file after you convert it (ex: if you have 2 movies, after converting the first rename the .VOB to vts_10_1.VOB. This will make sure the file will not get overwritten when you convert the second movie). If each movie will be one .VOB, then you can rename the first to vts_02_1.VOB. After renaming, delete the .IFO and .BUP files. Those can only be used if you convert all the movies at once.

As Rotary stated, CCE is a great encoder, but that one is not free. I think there is a trial for it though. You can always use the included encoders in something like avi2dvd. They will give you better results than WinAVI.
