Can you contact the person who sold you the Xbox and ask them what chip they have in it?

If you could get a pic of it, we could most likely figure out what chip you have...

Oh, and on most modchips, either holding the power button down for 1-2 seconds upon startup or tapping the eject button to turn on your console disables the modchip.

If there is a wire that is soldered to the eject button point on the power/eject board, or to a point on the edge of the motherboard, then the eject button will disable the chip.

What Color is the Chip (the PCB),. Is the Chip in question Solderd? Or is it Solderless?

Sounds to me like you have a Solderd Aladin Cheapmod to me..

I've never seen that chip before. Either it is VERY old and outdated, or else it is a knockoff. It reminds me of the Smart XX's in a way...

Well in times like these I always refer to what has to be the utimate source of XBOX? information. www.xbox.scene.com.

A quick check on there Modchip Page, tends to lean towards it being a Fake Xecuter 1. The originals were in fact green, and had more of a shrap corner where as. This Chip has had the useless bits of PCB cut away from it giving, your Chip a somwhat cleaner look to it.

Infos Here: http://xbox-scene.com/modchips3.php#

Here's what the X1 looks like. A fairly good match if you'd ask me!

Well I guess that depends on exactly how that Chip was installed. I'm going to take a guess that it was Solderd onto the Logicboard. So if your halfway decent with a Soldering Iron you shouldn't have to much trouble getting it off if you use a Desoldering braid.

As for the Aladen... I mean why? Ok I'll admit I didn't know that it also had LCD Suport till I saw the closeup Pic., of it above. But, there are better alternitves out there that don't require you to Solder.

But, yes it's quite possible!

Good job finding that pic Ichijoe! It looks like a match to me.

If you know how to solder, then just go ahead and desolder the solder connected to the LPC points, unscrew it, and take that sucker out. Here is a solder/desoldering guide, http://www.epemag.com/solderfaq/pictures.htm

I don't really recommend people going w/ the spider modchips, unless you are planning to solder the chip in. Check into the X3ce w/ xapter or the Xenium Ice.

Yup, it does indeed come w/ a solderless adapter. Before you think about getting that chip abuzar, look at some of these threads...

Oh, and I found those threads on the spider chip in 5 min. It just seems that nobody has anything good to say about them.

Oh yeah, and I wanted to throw in this quote from a VERY high ranked member on Xbox-Scene...

"If you have installed a spiderchip only to see it FRAG ( Flash Red And Green ) you are not alone. Many spiderchips fail as soon as they are installed , others work at first and then fail ( FRAG ) later on because the connection to the LPC is not solid. There are 2 ways to fix this problem one is to solder the bugger in and the other is to squeeze the chip in tightly under the dvd-rom drive. Soldering is the best method and the most reliable but the fact that you got a solderless chip means you can not solder or do not wish to , so i have an alternate Squeeze method. "

Cool, you will need to buy a solderless adapter w/ it. I always suggest the X3ce modchip. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret on how you can get this chip for under $70 w/ the xapter.

Go to this site, http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-xb-x3sl10 and mark down that price.

Then go to http://www.mod-chip.com and on the right hand side of the frontpage you will see a little add that says, "Best Price Guarantee. If you see something for cheaper on another site, then we will be that price and take 5% off of that lowered price"

Click in to that link and fill out the form, and you'll get it for around $65 total.

After you get your X3ce w/ solderless adapter, I have a great guide for you located here: http://teammodders.com/viewtopic.php?t=60
