Anyway, I bought the PSone (I think it's a v101, made in 2000) As-Is, and the seller did not know if it worked fully due to lack of an A/V cord. I managed to obtain an A/V cord for it, and it boots to the white "Sony" screen with the gold logo (I believe it is the BIOS screen). I put a game in, and it did spin, but nothing on the screen changed. I tried two discs, and neither worked (I did not get an error message or anything). While spinning ,you could hear a light scraping/sliding sound that informed that the discs was still spinning. I cleaned the lens with 91% isopropyl alcohol, but still no progress. The discs I tried did work in a PS2.
I then the site that I linked, and followed all of the steps in Lens Repair Stages 1 and 2 (but I used alcohol instead of lighter fluid because I did not have any). I tried it again multiple times, but now when the console is on with no disc in, and when I press/hold down the "lid closed" button the hub spins and the lens goes up-and-down. This happens twice (spin, lens movement, spin, lens movement), and then stops. When I put a disc in, the hub tries to spin, but the disc only spins about once each time the hub moves, and then stops. Before my repair efforts, at least the disc kept spinning. now, it spins and stops.
Any idea what could be wrong, and what I can do to fix it? I did not follow lens repair stage 3 on that site since this seems to be a mechanical problem rather than an optical one.
Thank you all for your time; any help is appreciated
