I'm new to emulation on the PS2 and I've got a question, if anyone is willing to take a moment to answer or offer suggestions. I've seen some pretty good emulators for playing NES/SNES/Genesis ROMS on the PS2. I am curious, is there any way to modify an actual NES, SNES or Genesis gamepad to be detected by any of these emulators and to be actually usable on a PS2?

I've done some looking around and this doesn't seem possible with an Xbox, but could it be done with a PS2 since the PS2 actually has a usb port?

If anyone could help point me in the right direction for a starting point on accomplishing this, if it's even possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

You'd have to be good with electronics and know the "pinout" of both controllers. You then modify the controller to use the PS2 pins, signals, and voltage. This is probably to difficult for an individual because, with the exception of the d-pad and select/start, all of the PS2 buttons are analog (varying signal) not digital (only on/off) like the old controllers are.

Too bad. Some big company should do this, though there's probably to small of a market. Adapters are available for PC though, but don't ask me where to find them. I'd suggest Google
