I have a V4 PS2. At first my PS2 made the grinding and clicking noise when trying to play an original PS2 game. It did it when the laser was at the outer edge of the disc. So the Macgyver that I am, I took it apart and played with it. I manually moved the laser up and down the track and it moved smoothly without any resistance. No ribbons had come undone and now the spindle only spins the disc a little bit then stops when any game is inserted. Which do I replace?
Laser or Spindle Motor?

neither right now. most likely, when you moved the laser back and forth, the laser ribbon cable came loose, check all ribbon cables to make sure they are in tightly. just b/c they look like they are in doesn't mean they are making a good connection.

OK. Thanks, I'll try that tonight. Also I read somewhere that a fuse could be blown.
