Burning a movie over an hour on highest quality?

Hi

I'm needing to burn a movie I made which is coming in at an hour and 10 minutes. I burned a copy, which although had an audio glitch, was burned in SP mode since it was over an hour. The video was noticably worse than usual. Perhaps it was a shitty burn or something, but I'd really like to keep it at its highest quality.

Are their any special DVD-R's I can order which burn more than an hour of footage at highest quality? Or am I needing to make some cuts?

Dear imkindof,

As long as the finished product doesn't exceed the normal capacity of a regular dvd, length shouldn't be a problem. So the quality that you're getting shouldn't have anything to do with it (unless you have chosen to compress). You may try burn to harddisk first and compare the results.

On the other hand, you did not specify the original format of the movie (e.g. mpeg, avi), nor the conversion/burning programs that you used. Do that and people here might have better suggestions.

Well, I'm burning from a quicktime file format on i-DVD. Before it allows me to burn, a window pops up which tells me since my footage is over an hour it has to switch to a lower quality mode, or I can delete some footage.

And in watching the burn, I can notice a difference. I've been told I should stick with Verbatim, which I haven't been using. And on the back of Verbatim cases, it does not discuss this 1-Hour limit on highest quality issue, where as on Maxell and other brands they do.
