Hi,
I have always wondered why I can't find a utility like chkdsk, scandisk, disk doctor for dvd-rw disks and other one time copy dvds? I make many copies from original owned disks, however, too many times the target dvd is written but 1/2 way through the movie, it stops and gives me a scratch disk, which cleaning does not help? Maybe if I had a program utility to check my blank target dvd-rws, I would save hours weeding out the bad disks or reformatting them, writing and marking the bad sectors to not be written to, etc. Of course I'm refering to dvd-rws only now, But a good dvd utility would have many benefits for the other one write dvds. If, nothing more, to see that the dvd is bad and save time by not using it!! Plese let me know if you have or know of a good dvd disk utility I could download or buy. Thank you very much.

try dvdinfopro (free monthly trial) it has a crc checker among others. there's also kprobe2 that can do "pif scans" if your burner is a lite-on drive (or a sony rebadged lite-on, in which case see 1st link in my sig). crc scans in my opinion are far superior to stuff like pif scans...

others will no doubt pop by with more advice...
