I have seen that there are a good number of fairly well rated emulators for vintage game systems that can be run on a PS2 w/ a modchip, such as It Might Be NES for playing NES games. My question is, if I were to order a pair of original gamepads, like for the NES, that were modified to use USB connections, would those work on my PS2? If not, is there any way for being able to use original system gamepads, i.e. NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. for playing games emulated on the PS2? I know that MadCatz makes a "retropad" that is designed for a similar "feel", but it is a bit bulky, and I don't really like the button layout, so i'm seeking whatever might work to get the original pads working. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I'm not sure what type of USB support the PS2 has. It would be awesome if it really did accept most Plug and Play USB controllers. I would guess that it will only recognize input signals from devices that it's pre-programmed to understand, or devices that use the same signals.

i think the way usb works is you have to install the drivers on the memcard and when the ps2 finds something in the usb slot it looks on the memcard for the driversso i dont think it will recognise moddifide controllers you have to have the correct drivers to istall on the ps2's memcard so unleas some company has made some special controllers i dont think its possible
