hello all. my first time backing up a couple of my friends games, i used fujifilm dvd-r disks and dvd decrypter in iso read-write modes. all of them will load extremely slow and pause for a couple seconds playing in my v12 slimline ps2 w/swap magic 3.6. Star Wars Ep 3, Splinter cell chaos theory, ncaa basketball 2005, hotshots golf fore, tiger woods 2005, and spiderman 2 all do this. i heard that dvd-r disks aren't even intended for ps2 games, after the fact of course. or is it dvd decrypter. im using D.D 3.4.5.0. secondly, can i salvage the data on these dvd-r disks that ive burned, or must i start from scratch. any imput or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
How fast is your speeds when burning? I don't know about you, but I'm pretty picky when it comes to media for PS2 games or DVD movies backups. My motto for media is mainly "Made In Japan" for 8X DVD+R genuine Taiyo Yuden (including both 8X DVD+R Fuji and Sony "M.I.J") and Maxell 8X DVD+R "M.I.J".
My PS2 console is a version 9 (it can read/play both DVD-R/+R formats), but I only backed up on 8X DVD+R media (mostly Fuji & Maxell) by book typing them into DVD-ROM and they all plays/loads flawlessly.

ironacally enough, when i started burning other people's created isos i would unknowingly burn them at 8x speed, like madden and incredible hulk u.d. these played fine, not flawless with stammers and pauses here and there. what causes these little pauses by the way. but the games i'm trying to back up myself are unplayable. oh, i burned them at 2x and 1x speed with dvd dycrypter and some with alcohol 120%. but back to the dvd-r question: aren't all the sony formated "purchased" dvd-roms on dvd+rs?

I am just the opposite. I only use 8X DVD-R for all
my games (Philips & TDK)
I have a V7 and V12 and they play just fine.
The slow loads and choppy cutscenes and such are due
to the laser having problems reading those DVD's
most of the time.
I did Splinter Cell (all of them) and Hot Shots Golf Four
on the above, burned them at 4X and they work great.
yeah, you guys, lo and behold, are spot on. after updating firmware (dont know if that did anything) and slowing down the read and write modes as much as possible (2x), i got some more favorable results. thanks, i will definately invest in some better media that can write at slow speeds.
