Aside from conversion softwares like DivX, you can use a MPEG4 recorder. Neuros is about to launch a MPEG4 recorder that will allow you to record mpeg4 movies on memory sticks especially for peolpe who are interested in getting video content onto their PSPs. You can record from any video output (Cable, satellite TV, camcorder, DVD, VCR...). It should be avalaible late october.
