I have a PS2 ver. 4 and am attempting to boot my PSX backups with Breaker Pro v. 1.1 NTSC and a slide card. I have scoured the net and tried at least 10 variations of all the methods given, with no luck. The next step is to take the Breaker Pro disc skeet shooting. Can someone please help me, I am at my wit's end. Thank you.

Okay I figured it out. Thank you afterdawn forums. Make sure you burn your backup with Alcohol 120% on Playstation mode, in DAO/SAO mode on the lowest possible write speed. If you boot it on your PC, it'll read speedial, the bin file, and, s/t in SLUS format. If you just try to burn the image to disk using your favorite recording software, it WILL NOT work. Once your backup is successfully burned, Here is a step by step guide for Breaker Pro: 1. Turn on the PS2. 2. Open disc tray. 3. Insert Breaker Pro. 4. Close Disc tray. 5. Hit Reset. 6. Wait for Breaker Pro to boot, it is an aquamarine screen with Start game, video mode, etc. 7. Hit X on Start Game, The screen should read "Insert CD and hit any key to boot." 8. Use the slide card to open your PS2 (Be careful not to press up, as you will scratch your breaker Pro CD). 9. Insert your backup or import. 10. Push the tray as far in as possible without resealing it. 11. Use the slide card's hook to grab the tab and gently pull the tab to the left, closing the disc tray. (For further instructions check out http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm. Ignore the breaker pro directions however, as they are instructions on how to use it as the boot CD for Swap Magic). 12. Press any button to boot your backup or import. If this doesn't work, then your disc or lens may be dirty or scratched. A few things to know: 1. Breaker Pro does not work with PS2 backup's, it is for PS1 backups and imports only. For Multidisc games check out afterdawn forums for instructions. Make sure you match the video mode (NTSC for America or PAL for Europe) to whatever type of PS2 you have. Breaker Pro is compatible with all versions of PS2 and PSone. The directions that come with the Breaker Pro and on the official site are mentally challenged at best. Have patience, make sure you have your backup burned correctly, and follow the step by step directions and you should be fine. Consult http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm for instructions on removing the front cover of your PS2 and making the "slide station." I hope this guide keeps others from repeating my mistakes and loud strings of profanities. Good luck.

Hi Blndgirl I had some trouble with that as well. In truth I had my father help me out with finding and removing "the clips." They are on the left and right side of the PS2 disc tray and are more like tabs that lock into grooves, than "clips." They are locked into the grooves and are not visible (since they are locked into grooves). Once your PS2 is unplugged with the disc tray out you'll want to find a pin, needle, pair of tweezers, (hell maybe even a toothpick) that are small enough to fit in between the small gap that runs along the top of the disc tray. In the pictures from http://www.saveware.com/SlideCardUsageAndInstall.htm, they are are the ridges on either side that jut out and curve in at a 45 degeree angle (the top picture illustrates this most clearly), on opposite ends of the disc tray. You will have to use a little bit of force to pry one end of the tab out of the groove. Be extremely careful at this point, as any excessive force may damage your eject motor, causing it to stop working. So just make sure you apply as minimal amount of force as possible to dislodge the tabs from the grooves without damaging your eject motor. I am not responsible for any damaged caused to your PS2 in the process. Once you have one end free, the other end should come right out (You can probably just remove it by hand). As far the screw involved in the process, the only one I know of is the one on the bottom of the PS2 disc tray which holds it together. The diagram from the above link should show you how to handle it. Just make sure you unscrew it prior to removing the tabs from their grooves, and screw it back in after you have succesfully removed the front cover. I know this is kind of a pain, but once you have the front end off and master the slide card, it is pretty simple. Consult my guide on how to get breaker pro to work, and make sure you set the video mode to PAL, since you have a PAL PS2. Hope this helps, take care. :)

Hi Zawyer, this takes a little patience. If you have a Slimline PS2 I'm not sure of the exact method, however for purposes of this discussion, I am assuming you have a normal size PS2 (v.1-11). I also assume you have consulted the link provided and removed the front cover of your PS2 to form the "slide station." With the arm side (the side with the hook on it) facing right, insert the slide card into the slide station about two inches from the left of the beginning of the slide station. Basically the slide card should be level and it should fit into the slide station almost as if it is part of the PS2 disc tray. It takes a little practice to know exactly when you have caught the "tab" with the arm of the slide card. Once you insert the slide card and begin to move it to the right, you should feel a little resistance, almost like the slide card has snapped into a groove. I can not emphasize this enough, DO NOT FORCE the slide card into position, as doing so could damage your eject motor, rendering it inoperable. Also be sure to keep a firm steady grip and DO NOT PUSH UP, because this will cause you to scratch your breaker pro disc. Push it gently to the right until the PS2 disc tray pops out a little automatically. Once the tray has popped out, pull forward on it gently until it's about 3/4 of the way out and the Breaker Pro disc is plainly visible. Replace it with your backup or import and push the tray as far in as possible without closing it. Now for the tricky part. On the right hand side of the slide station, push the hook on the slide card in until it catches the tab and pull it to the left slowly, resealing the PS2 disc tray. If you push it to the left and it won't budge, then the disc tray isn't closed far enough. Push it in little bit and try again. This process can be very frustrating and requires some practice to master. With a little practice, (several hours for me) this process will become second nature. A good way to pratice is to try this procedure with no disc in the tray, in order to master it without scratching your Breaker Pro disc. When the disc tray pops out release pressure on the slide card and stop pushing it to the right. Move the slide card to the left, towards you and around the right side of the tab you were pushing to open the disc tray. Catch the hook on the tab and pull it gently to the left, until the tray is closed. Hit X and boot your back up or import. Good Luck and enjoy.

Hi Tokijin! Thanks for helping!
It took some time, but now, as u said "this process will become second nature". It's difficult to find tutorials about this process, but u pointed all of the important details!

Once again... Thankx!

It can damgage your eject motor if your not careful. There is no harm as long as you're careful. I got a flip top which works great and eliminates the need for the lamo slide card. Check here for Flip top installation info: http://www.chipzone.com/installation/playstation2/fliptop/page1.cfm

Are you following the directions? You did remove the front cover, right? What do you mean it blinks and you get disk read errors? Are you burning your backups correctly? Here's a guide for burning PSX games: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/236278

Not that I know of. Does your tray not eject anymore? If so you probably did damage it. In that case their isn't much you can do. You should take it to a pro and see what they say.

I ordered mine off http://www.gocybershop.ca They're a very reputable site. I got it for 15$+8$ shipping, so $23 total. Breaker Pro works great. You probably know this since you have Swap Magic, but you need a slide card or flip top to boot your PSX/PS2 backups with Breaker Pro/Swap Magic.

Thank you Tokijin,

You helped me to get my breaker pro cd working. The breaker pro website instructions and the instructions on the breaker pro box aren`t very instructive nor very detailed enough so I just wanted you to know that I really appreciated your guide. I am now enjoying my favorite ps-1 backups such as "silent hill", "dino crisis 2" and "castlevania- symphony of the night".

I LOVE THIS FORUM.

Thanks. Glad you got it working. Breaker Pro brought me to AD in the first place, the last couple months, I guess I've been lost. Cheers!

Lol. Thanks Boobooman. It's good to visit the old posts for nostalgia, though I cringe at some of the advice I gave early in my AD days. Cheers!

Thanks Pepsi Maxx. I don't know if I'm a pro, but I do my best. The key is to never stop learning. Every time you think you're an expert, you run into somebody who knows more than you. If you learn from those people, you can take your knowledge to the next level. If it wasn't for people like KC36330, Hursty, Steimy, Davbere, Alkohol, DocTY, Mort81, Paddymail, and other's, I wouldn't have been pushed to get better. Even now, there's still a lot more I can learn.
