Okay, i posted a thread earlier about how my dvd's that i had burned would pixelate on and off. Well i switched media and got DVD-R's. Now it kind of shakes for about 2 or 3 seconds, and it usually only does this about 3 times during the course of a movie. I can't understand why it am having this problem. I am only burning at 4x. I am using Sony DVD-R's. And my burner is a Lite On SOHW. Can someone please help me fix this problem!!!???

If you have DVD Decrypter go open it and go to the Tools tab, then drive and then capabilities and see what the make, model and current firmware is on your burner. If you do not have Decrypter then use Nero Info Tool or download DVDInfoPro.

It says it can write DVD-R on the firmware. And that it can't write DVD-R DL.

What are you viewing those backups in that are showing those issues?

PC drive using the lite-on drive or Stand alone player?

I am viewing them in a stand alone player which is only a year old. I have other DVD-R's that i burned using a friends burner a while back, and they are perfect in my DVD player. I am beginning to think it is the model of burner that i have. I am almost ready to say heck w/ it and buy a Plextor.

Well your firmware is up to date so there is no problem there. You stated you switched media, what were you using before the switch? Have you tried your burned disks in any other standalones, or your PC, do they still play badly? You can always try switching media again.

Hi there,

I have a Toshiba DVD Player that is real picky.

Even burned at 4x I have playback issues with it.

I burn everthing at 2x and everything is cool now.

Use the same media and burn one at 2x and see if it helps.

I know, most of us all have 16x burners, that's just a sales pitch for the sales guys :)

Good Luck !
