Well after reading the posts for about 6 months on here i thought it was about time i put finger to keyboard and typed up a guide.

As most users of homebrew software do i experienced a few probems at first, but through trial and error i finally got things working!

Hardware

1.6Ghz Pc
Dual Layer DVD
200gb Hard Drive
Slimline PS2 with Fliptop

Software

SwapMagic 3 plus
Nero 6

I know its been stressed many times on this forum but in my opinion the most important thing is to use descent media to write your files too. I find that Verbatim media works best for me.

Also worth remembering is that depending on whether you want to load files from cd-r or dvd+/-r thats the initial swap magic disk you need to be loading from.

PS2Reality Mediaplayer http://www.ps2reality.net/users/opeh/ is what i use to play divx on my PS2.

Theres a download there already which you can use with Nero to burn a cd version but given the increase in size of DVDs i wanted a DVD version.

I started by downloading the v1.5 version RAR from http://www.ps2reality.net/users/opeh/150/downloads/mediaplayer150.rar

load up Nero and select DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)

In the Multisession menu select NO MULTISESSION
In the ISO menu select MAX. 11 = 8 + 3 chars (ISO Level 1)
ISO 9960 (Standard ISO CD-ROM)
UNTICK ALL BOXES
Add a Label if you wish but leave all the other menus as is.

Open up the mediaplayer150.rar and goto the \mediaplayer150\mediaplayer\ps2 menu.

Drag and drop the files in the following order into Nero.

system.cnf
mcloader.elf
copy.cnf
copy2.cnf
letter.chr
mcupload.txt
ps2media.rar
unrar.irx

Burn this disk and you now have your MediaPlayer 1.5 DVD startup disk.

All you need do is swap this once you've loaded SWAPMAGIC DVD.

Next you need to transfer your video files onto DVD.

Start a new project in NERO again DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)

In the Multisession menu select NO MULTISESSION
In the ISO menu select Max. of 31 chars (ISO Level 2)
ISO 9960 (Standard ISO CD-ROM)
UNTICK ALL BOXES
Add a Label if you wish but leave all the other menus as is.

As you can see this time i've used iso level 2 this is because Divx files use the extension .divx which wont be detected by the ps2 if you use level 1.

Drag and Drop your video files into Nero then Burn this disk.

Swap the Mediaplayer 1.5 disk you've created for ur new Files disk and select Browser.

If all has gone correctly you should see your video files available too play.
