@pholmes31 - the Verb's & Sony's should last a fair old while, with the TDK it depends if you got any decent ones (that's why i won't touch TDK)

Main PC ~ Intel C2Q Q6600 (G0 Stepping)/Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3/2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500/Zalman CNPS9700/Antec 900/Corsair HX 620W
Network ~ DD-WRT ~ 2node WDS-WPA2/AES ~ Buffalo WHR-G54S. 3node WPA2/AES ~ WRT54GS v6 (inc. WEP BSSID), WRT54G v2, WRT54G2 v1. *** Forum Rules ***

You might want to check those TDKs using something like DVD Identifier. If the manufacture comes back CMC MAG, you are better off not using those TDKs. Stop using them now if they are CMC MAG and you will save yourself some headaches later. I bought some IMATION DVD+R disks 50 pack at wal-mart and had no problems burning movies, but playback was iffy. PIF scans using Kprobe2 look horrible compaired to the Verbatims and the CMC disks show lots of errors. Now I am trying to back up those CMC MAG disks to good media before the data gets corrupted even more.
As others mentioned, it depends on how often you use the disks, conditions of storage.. and anything used in a portable dvd player can get a lot of wear especially if you drive like I do :) . I have some movies i burnt 4 years ago on Verbatims and they still play fine with no errors i can see in playback. I guess they will last my lifetime which is good enough for me :) .
The manufactures of DVDs like to say DVDs will last for a 100 years or more.. Since DVDs haven't been around for a hundred years they are using estimates.. in other words making it up based upon a scientific principle known as guesstimating. And can you imagine the downgrade you would need to view a DVD in a hundred years??
The dyes used in disks can break down if the manufacturer went on the cheap. Then that one becomes a zero or something.. and Laura Croft comes out looking like Arnold S... eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww! I think I am going to be sick now..

You are right. Those TDK's should be ok. I know TDK put out some disks made by CMC MAG but DVD Decrypter would have shown that. Sorry for ranting about CMC MAG but they have cost me lots of time and money :( . I learned my lesson the hard way and have been educated by the fine ppl here at AD.
